Crown Center Schedule of Events announced for May 2011- August 2012

Morris Park Players Community Theatre (MPP) presents Grease, April 29 & 30, May 6, 13, & 14 at 7:30 pm, and May 1 & 7 at 2:00 pm, the second production at their new home of Thomas Edison High School Auditorium in Northeast Minneapolis.

A cast of Broadway veterans will converge on a small Kansas town April 13 to perform a new musical comedy by Sheldon Harnick, co-creator of "Fiddler on the Roof."

Three-time Tony Award-winning scenic designer ROBIN WAGNER and esteemed costume designer LEWIS BROWN are among the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 8 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Brown was selected to receive the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer Robin Wagner will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Sadly, Mr. Brown passed away in January of 2011. His award will be accepted by his long-time colleague and friend, Albert Wolsky, who was the recipient of the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award

The Relevant Stage presents the Broadway classic 'Kiss Me, Kate' choreographed by Marisa Martinez and Keenon Hooks, with costume design by Kara McLeod, February 17 - 28 runs Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 and 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 and 7:00 p.m. at The Warner Grand Theatre 478 West Sixth Street, San Pedro. Dick Button, the man known as the 'Voice' of figure skating, Johnny Weir, an Olympian who, at age 26, is the skating world's most unpredictable star, and Laurieann Gibson, the creative visionary behind Lady GaGa's choreography, will serve as the judges for ABC's highly anticipated new series, 'Skating with the Stars,' from BBC Worldwide Productions. Weir, Button and Gibson will make their debut as judges on the series' premiere, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (9:11-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

The 2010 series, made possible through the generous support of PNC, will run June 4 - July 25 at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.).

Broadway legend Carol Channing is fond of telling the story about a group of Russian diplomats who came to see the original production of Hello, Dolly! in 1964. Although they spoke virtually no English, they sat through the show and visited with the star in her dressing room afterwards. Talking through an interpreter, they told her that they loved the musical because it was filled with so much optimism. Although they couldn't understand the lyrics, the ebullience of Jerry Herman's music allowed them to experience and enjoy what producer David Merrick touted as 'the world's happiest musical'.
