This week, in celebration of the release of Disney's brand-new live-action movie Beauty and the Beast, I'm going to be posting reviews of beloved novels retelling this story both here at Broadway World as well as on my personal book review blog A Backwards Story. Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl is also posting throughout the week. Good morning, BroadwayWorld! This weekend's big news: PRESENT LAUGHTER, starring Kevin Kline, begins on Broadway tonight, and Samantha Barks and Arthur Darrell headline HONEYMOON IN VEGAS in London on Sunday!

The University of Washington College of Arts and Sciences presents the third annual production of the UW Musical Theater Program, Pippin. The production runs March 10th through March 19th at the Floyd and Delores Jones Playhouse at NE 41st Street and University Way NE.

March is the month for Beauty and the Beast fans to rejoice!  On Friday, March 17, the long awaited live-action film opens and Susan Egan, Broadway's original Tony-nominated 'Belle' takes the stage in a one-night-only concert event 'The Real Housewife of Broadway' at the Beverly O'Neill Theater at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. 

Theatre in Our Schools Month (TIOS) is a grassroots effort to draw attention to the benefits of having theatre in the schools, as well as the need for more access to quality programs for all students. For 2017, the national spokesperson is Kevin Kline, who, in a video in support of the campaign, points out that in this digital age, the lessons that theatre provides for communications skills are more critical than ever.

Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Today's big news: Matthew Broderick returns to the stage and THE PRICE begins on Broadway!

For the 3rd year, Arts-Louisville.com and Vault 1031 presented the Arts-Louisville.com/Broadway World Theatre Awards honoring excellence in local theatre. In a ceremony attended by over 100 people, competitive awards in 4 divisions were given out to local theatre companies and individual theatre artists after a public vote administered through the Broadway World website. The period of qualification for these categories was November 1, 2015 and October 31, 2016.
