Dissident Practices, on view April 19-June 16, 2023, at Anya and Andrew Shiva Gallery at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, explores how Brazilian women artists respond to social change -- from the military dictatorship in the mid-1960s to the return to democracy in the mid-1980s, the social changes of the 2000s, the rise of the Right in the late-2010s, and the recent development of a more diverse younger generation fighting for gender equality and LGBTQI+ rights.

Koho Yamamoto: 101 Springs, a solo exhibition of sumi-e paintings by Japanese American artist Koho Yamamoto, will be on view at the Leonovich Gallery from April 15-May 14, 2023. Curated by Jaya Duvvuri, Yamamoto's long-time associate and former student, the exhibition will include seventeen works spanning fifty years of Yamamoto's artistic practice and will open on the artist's 101st birthday.

The Diary of Anne Frank is one of the 21st Century's most famous and haunting stories. In July 1942, when Anne was 13 years old, the Frank family went into hiding  as Nazis swept through the Netherlands systematically deporting Jews to concentration camps and killing centers in the east. For nearly two years, Anne, her father, mother, and sister, and the Van Daan family hid in a secret space above her father's former office in Amsterdam.

Rubicon Theatre of Ventura continues the company's commitment to the creation of new works with the organization's 46th mainstage world premiere - a developmental musical production based on Dark of the Moon, the 1945 Broadway play by Howard Richardson and William Berney.

New York City based Tom Gold Dance will give the World Premiere of Tom Gold Dance Founder and Director Tom Gold's XV during the Company's 2023 spring season, Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13 at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College. New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents The Philip Roth Festival, a three-day celebration (Friday, March 17 - Sunday, March 19) of the iconic writer from Newark, New Jersey. A bevy of actors come out to discuss and participate in events celebrating the novelist who influenced their work as actors.

The Bath Festival 2023 focuses on the theme Opening Up for its internationally renowned annual celebration of music and books in May. The festival will hold over 130 events in more than 50 of Bath's distinctive buildings and spaces.

On Sunday, March 5, the Conejo Players Theatre will be presenting a staged reading of The Nameless Star, a 1942 play written by Romanian playwright Mihail Sebastian about a chance encounter at a remote train station between a modest astronomy professor at a local girls' school and a glamorous young woman, a stowaway who finds herself stranded after being tossed off an express train for not having the necessary fare. Producer Elena Mills recalled the play from her childhood and has spent years wanting to bring it to the stage, which has resulted in this special theatrical 'experiment.'
