Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the 2016 - 2017 season of Chicago's hit musical revue series, New Faces Sing returning to Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway and debuting at Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Ave in Skokie. In tribute to the original New Faces series that ran on Broadway and on film from 1934 - 1968, Porchlight Music Theatre last year created this Chicago musical revue series, New Faces Sing Broadway, as a showcase for the best emerging musical talent now performing on Chicago stages. Each edition is a journey from the start to the finish of a entire musical season on Broadway, peppered with photos and films of the era in an exciting multimedia presentation with a favorite Chicago theatre veteran hosting and introducing the next generation of music theatre artists and acting as your guide through a past season on the Great White Way. Seating is general admission; tickets are $22, with no drink minimum and are available at porchlightmusictheatre.org.

Borderlands Theater Presents the World Premiere of Sonoran Shadows

Borderlands Theater presents the world premiere of Sonoran Shadows, a shadow play based on Patricia Preciado Martin's El Milagro and Other Stories, excerpted and adapted for the stage by Milta Ortiz. The family friendly spectacle will be staged outdoors at Armory Park Band Shell and Oury Recreation Center. Art direction by Cristina Cardenas. Marc David Pinate directs. Audience members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks.

Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin returns this season to Carnegie Hall to lead The Philadelphia Orchestra in three concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, beginning on Tuesday, November 15 at 8:00 p.m. ViolinistBenjamin Beilman joins the orchestra for Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major, Op. 19, on a program that also includes Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin and Daphnis et Chloe(complete) with the Westminster Symphonic Choir.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and the Los Angeles LGBT Center present United FORlando, an evening concert in memory and support of the victims of the recent tragedy at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. The evening tribute includes special musical performances by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles and the cast of Hit The Wall by Ike Holter, the award-winning immersive theater production set at NYC's historic Stonewall Inn during the summer of 1969. Actor and activist Wilson Cruz, whose aunt was among the victims on June 12, will moderate 'After Orlando: Reflections and Where We Go From Here,' a conversation featuring panelists Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Darrel Cummings, Chief of Staff of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Single tickets are now available for purchase for $25 - $45 with net proceeds from the concert benefiting the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida (The Center). As America celebrates its 240th Birthday today, let's talk about what is probably one of the greatest musicals ever written, and it only came about 46 years before Hamilton. 1776 dramatizes the story of how John Adams was able to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence as well as signing the Declaration of Independence. While the musical does dramatize the most important event in American history, the story behind the musical is probably just as interesting.
