After enjoying its World Premiere engagement earlier this spring at the Playroom Theater, A Class Act, the inaugural and relevant new play by attorney and playwright Norman Shabel, will now hold court at New World Stages - Stage 5(340 West 50th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues) for a summer run. Produced by Eric Krebs, performances will begin on Saturday, July 9 at 8pm and continue through Sunday, September 4.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 150 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 48th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 12-16, 2016 in multiple locations throughout the Center. Thousands of student artists from eight regions across the country presented their work at regional festivals from January 5 through February 27, 2016 and more than 150 were selected to travel to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., for an all-expenses-paid trip to participate in the national festival.

Known worldwide as one of the most important figures in Cajun music, a renowned multi-instrumentalist, master of the fiddle and accordion, distinctive vocalist, and a highly prolific songwriter, Doug Kershaw has spent most of his career mining the rich musical traditions of his home state of Louisiana, from zydeco to Creole-influence country and folk. Now he looks back on his own illustrious career, all the way back to his days performing as a duo with his brother Rusty in the 1950s, though the early years of his budding solo career, and digs up a stunning collection of more than 50 vintage studio recordings and demos. These never-before-released gems will be available to music fans worldwide on February 5 as Anthology - Rare Masters 1958-1969, a superb 2CD set courtesy of Goldenlane Records.

THOM THOMAS, script writer for stage, TV and film, succumbed to acute leukemia in Los Angeles on December 2, 2015. Recently Thomas co-wrote with Iris Rainer Dart the book for Beaches, The Musical, adapted from Dart's popular novel. Beaches had a tryout in Chicago at the Drury Lane Theatre this past summer, and a Broadway transfer is pending availability of a theater. Currently Astrablu Media, Inc. holds the rights to Thomas's completed screenplay adaptation of the novel, Vanished, with production planned for spring of 2016.

The Old Globe today shared its 2016 Summer Season, which will feature new and familiar works directed by four major American stalwarts. The season features the welcome return of Steve Martin (Bright Star) with the World Premiere of his new play Meteor Shower, an adult comedy, directed by Gordon Edelstein, in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where he serves as Artistic Director. Paul Gordon's musical Sense and Sensibility will have its West Coast premiere, presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it had its world premiere in February 2015, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. The Summer Shakespeare Festival will include Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company, and Love's Labor's Lost, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

Carnegie Hall presents the renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) led by Music Director Andris Nelsons in three concerts this October. The orchestra's series this season begins on Tuesday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. with the New York premiere of Sebastian Currier's Divisions. Acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis is guest soloist in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37 and the BSO and Mr. Nelsons conclude with a performance of Brahms's Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73.
