Musical Theatre West presents the second production of their 61st season, Davis Gaines (Los Angeles' longest-running Phantom in The Phantom of The Opera) starring as Professor Harold Hill and Gail Bennett (Mary Poppins) starring as Marian Paroo in Meredith Willson's timeless and joyous, THE MUSIC MAN, book, music and lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey, musical direction by Corey Hirsch, choreography by John Todd and directed by Jeff Maynard.

DM Playhouse to Host 'Best of Broadway' New York Theatre Tour, 5/8-11

Park Square Theatre will shake the rafters and raise the roof off its 348-seat proscenium theatre next year with one of its largest musicals ever, featuring the largest all-African-American cast in its history. The Twin Cities first local production of the blockbuster musical The Color Purple will take to the company's proscenium stage in January 2015 under the leadership of director/choreographer Lewis Whitlock III. Made famous by Oprah Winfrey, the musical tells the intimate story of one woman's soaring triumph over oppression and abuse.

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) announces the return of East Passyunk Restaurant Week on Sunday, February 23 through Saturday, March 1, 2014. Twenty-four award-winning restaurants along Philadelphia's "Best Dining Neighborhood of 2013" will serve up three course, value-priced brunch, lunch and dinner menus for $15, $25 and $35 each. From low key BYOBs to elegant candlelight dining to Italian "red gravy" joints to Mexican street food, East Passyunk Restaurant Week boasts a diversity of dining experiences and cuisines that offer something for everyone. East Passyunk top chefs will offer special off-menu surprises in addition to their standard signature dishes. Select restaurants will further personalize the experience with drink pairings, add-on specials, dessert debuts, extended hours and day of operation, and other rewards to delight foodies from around the region - and the country. NY Philharmonic Opens Season with Yo-Yo Ma Gala Concert Tonight

Music Director Alan Gilbert opens the New York Philharmonic's 2013-14 season with the Opening Gala concert, headlined by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, tonight, September 25, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Gilbert will conduct Mr. Ma and the Orchestra in two works by Argentinian composers: the World Premiere of Octavio Brunetti's arrangement, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, of a suite from Astor Piazzolla's La serie del Ángel, and Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, composed for the eminent cellist. The program opens with Ravel's Alborada del gracioso and closes with Bolero, two pieces that reflect the French composer's fascination with Spain. The concert will be telecast nationally on Live From Lincoln Center at a later date, and Classical 105.9 FM WQXR at 7:30 p.m.

CSO to Open Southern Theatre Season with 'Suites & Songs' Program

CSO Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni will conduct the CSO's first performances in the Southern Theatre for the 2013-14 season, opening with the Suites & Songs program featuring guest mezzo-soprano Abigail Fischer and works from Respigh, Ravel, and Peter Liberson. Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin composition pays graceful homage to Francois Couperin and the other composers of eighteenth-century France. The CSO will also perform two additional movements from the original piano suite orchestrated by Jean-Marie. Ottorino Respighi's sparkling suite Trittico Botticelliano portrays the delightful paintings of Italian master Sandro Botticelli. Audiences will also enjoy Peter Lieberson's gorgeous musical love letters derived from the sonnets of Nobel prize-winning Chilean poet Pablo Neruda in Neruda Songs, featuring Kim Harrison Hopcraft as narrator.

City Parks Foundation announces the 21st edition of the beloved late summer jazz favorite, the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. In the world of modern music, few figures loom as large or cast as long a shadow as saxophonist Charlie Parker, best known as 'Bird' (short for 'Yardbird') to generations of musicians. He was born in 1920, and almost sixty years since his death in 1955, he is universally celebrated for single-handedly inventing bebop and bringing jazz into the modern era.
