San Francisco Ballet announces ten promotions, eight new Company members, and six apprentices for the 2017-18 Season. Soloist Jennifer Stahl has been promoted to principal dancer, and Isabella DeVivo, Jahna Frantziskonis, Esteban Hernandez, and Steven Morse have been promoted to soloist. In addition, SF Ballet Apprentices Alexandre Cagnat, Shene Lazarus, Davide Occhipinti, Nathaniel Remez, and Isabella Walsh have been promoted to the corps de ballet. Ulrik Birkkjaer and Ana Sophia Scheller join the Company as principal dancers and Solomon Golding, Gabriela Gonzalez, Blake Johnston, Madison Keesler, Wona Park, and Joseph Warton have joined SF Ballet as corps de ballet members. Ethan Chudnow, Anatalia Hordov, Carmela Mayo, Swane Messaoudi, Larisa Nugent, and Benjamin Pearson of San Francisco Ballet School have been promoted to the rank of apprentice.

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC) is pleased to announce the much-anticipated addition to its 2017-2018 Season, which already includes an impressive line up of leading contemporary theatre titles. In addition to the five titles previously announced, ETC will present the regional premiere of Larry Parr's His Eye is on the Sparrow, the powerful, heartbreaking, and uplifting account of the legendary Ethel Waters, who overcame a spirit-breaking childhood and racial injustice to become a legendary jazz and blues singer, Broadway pioneer, and Oscar-nominated actress. Playing April 24-May 19, 2018, this musical biography will feature celebrated local actress and Ensemble Theatre veteran Torie Wiggins in the leading role, singing some of Waters's most famous songs, including 'Stormy Weather,' 'Black and Blue," and 'This Joint is Jumpin'.' Sharing the stage in telling Ms. Waters's remarkable story is pianist Scot Woolley.

Schimmel Center presents New York Theatre Ballet (NYTB) Uptown/Downtown/Dance at Schimmel Center, 3 Spruce Street, NYC, on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, 2017 at 7:30pm and The Alice-in-Wonderland Follies! on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 3pm.

The Uptown/Downtown/Dance program will include an as-yet-untitled World Premiere from Martin Lawrance and the World Premiere of Painted Within by Zhong-Jing Fang, as well as a restaging of former NYTB resident choreographer Edward Henkel's ReVision, created in 1986, with music by Edvard Grieg, Holberg Suite op. 40 (1884). A 2013 NYTB commission, Short Memory by Pam Tanowitz, is set to live music by Lou Harrison and Henry Cowell and helps set up Ms. Tanowitz's brilliant use of stage space. The evenings include two more pieces by Ms. Tanowtiz: Light Moving, set to music by David Lang, and Double Andante, a 13-minute ballet for ten dancers set to the Andante movement of Beethoven's Sonata in D Major #15, which will be played live on piano two times at different tempos. McCarter Theatre Center closes the 2016-2017 Theater Series with a new production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel, a story of an African-American seamstress living in 1905 New York City pursuing her dreams of love and independence. Directed by Jade King Carroll, Intimate Apparel will run from May 5 to June 4.

Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Mike Isaacson will be presented The Commercial Theater Institute's Robert Whitehead Award for 'outstanding achievement in commercial theatre producing' at a reception at Sardi's on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. It was initially scheduled for March 14th but was rescheduled due to snowstorm Stella.

Pennsylvania Ballet Principal Dancer Amy Aldridge has announced she will retire after 23 seasons on stage with Pennsylvania Ballet, with a performance of George Balanchine's pas de deux from Rubies on Sunday, May 14 at 2pm at The Academy of Music.

Houston Ballet is proud to announce that Artistic Director Stanton Welch AM has promoted Jessica Collado to Principal dancer. Formally a First-Soloist, Ms. Collado was promoted on the evening of March 10, 2017 after starring in Stanton Welch's production of Cinderella in the title role.
