Directed by acclaimed Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens, Tigers Be Still, Kin, The Coward) in his Broadway debut, the production will also star Tony Award nominee Lily Rabe (The Merchant of Venice, Steel Magnolias, this summer's lauded A Doll's House at Williamstown) and Obie Award winner Hamish Linklater (The School for Lies, Twelfth Night, 'The New Adventures of Old Christine'). The Australian Ballet celebrates a longstanding love affair with British ballet in a triple bill spanning three generations. British Liaisons features three of the biggest names in British choreography. Sharing the illustrious bill are Royal Ballet founder Ninette de Valois, the inimitable Sir Kenneth MacMillan and contemporary ballet legend Christopher Wheeldon.

Paper Mill Playhouse has just announced the full creative team behind its season opener, the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight-time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the 1992 live-action Disney feature film musical. The show begins performances on Thursday, September 15. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, September 25.

The acclaimed new documentary Bobby Fischer Against the World, which premiered at Sundance and was shown on HBO, will be screened at Museum of the Moving Image on Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a discussion with two luminaries from the chess world: Frank Brady, author of the outstanding new biography Endgame: Bobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall, the outstanding new biography about Fischer; and Dylan McClain, chess columnist and blogger for The New York Times.

The show will feature Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed as Aladdin and Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and Seattle mainstay Seán G. Griffin as the Sultan. Jonathan Freeman takes the stage to embody the role he originally voiced for the film, the Royal Vizier Jafar. He is joined by comedic favorite Don Darryl Rivera as Iago. Aladdin restores a trio of characters originally conceived by the film's creators: Omar, Babkak, and Kassim, played by Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Brian Gonzales, and Brandon O'Neill, respectively. Broadway's Casey Nicholaw will direct. With book by Chad Beguelin and hit songs including 'Friend Like Me,' 'Prince Ali,' and the Oscar-winning 'A Whole New World' by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Aladdin will enchant audiences of all ages.

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities kicks off its 2011-12 theater season on September 13, 2011, with the Tony Award winning musical Ragtime. The production - a regional premiere of the play's 2008 revival - opens a seven-play theater subscription season that reinforces Arvada Center Theater's standing as one of the area's leading theatrical producers as well as its emerging reputation as a catalyst for collaboration with regional theaters. 'Ragtime allows our audiences to experience what we do best from the very start of the season,' states Arvada Center Artistic Producer Rod Lansberry. Mr. Brown was selected to receive the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer Robin Wagner will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Sadly, Mr. Brown passed away in January of 2011. His award will be accepted by his long-time colleague and friend, Albert Wolsky, who was the recipient of the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award
