BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Mark Baker, a Broadway veteran and Tony nominee, passed away yesterday, August 13. He was 71 years old. 

Today, Moment Factory and Cipriani announced the opening of Dream Ship DestiNY (alternatively D.S. DestiNY), an interactive and immersive journey to New York City that will be showcased at the historic Cunard Building. With D.S. DestiNY, Moment Factory, a multimedia entertainment studio known for creating captivating installations across the globe, will give audiences a chance to explore an NYC landmark, as it is transformed into an entertainment experience. D.S. DestiNY will begin previews on August 24 and official opening date to be announced soon.

One of the Bay Area's best entertainers celebrates the work of one of our greatest composers. Craig Jessup's Sondheim Tonight! brings together more than a dozen Sondheim gems from some of his earliest shows as a composer/lyricist (Saturday Night, Anyone Can Whistle) to some of his most beloved (Company, Follies, Merrily We Roll Along). And the show marks Jessup's debut at Feinstein's at the Nikko.

The New Juilliard Ensemble (N.J.E.), led by founder and director Joel Sachs and now in its 26th season, celebrates the diversity of today's music, focusing primarily on repertory of the last decade and presenting international composers who write in the most varied styles. The Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA), dedicated to advancing the field of Asian American theater, announces Chicago as the host city for the Sixth National Asian American Theater Conference and Festival (ConFest), to be held August 13 - 18. ConFest Early Bird passes start at $350 and are available at CAATA.net beginning Wednesday, May 16 at 10 a.m.

On the occasion of their 40th anniversary, world-renowned Hubbard Street Dance Chicago returns to Jacob's Pillow with a diverse program featuring today's leading contemporary choreographers including Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, resident choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo, and founder Lou Conte. Praised as "a near-perfect storm of movement, music, and choreography" (Los Angeles Times), Hubbard Street brings an eclectic repertoire performed by an impeccably strong, technically-driven ensemble of dancers to the Ted Shawn Theatre, August 1-5.

Florida native VINCENT WARREN was a celebrated figure in the dance world of Canada.  After a distinguished career as a principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Warren became widely known and respected as a teacher, historian and archivist.   His many awards include a Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977, a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, and being named a member of the order of Canada in 2004.

From dancing under the baton of Igor Stravinsky, having a passionate love affair with celebrated poet Frank O'Hara, and appearing as lead dancer in the masterpiece Pas de deux by the great filmmaker Norman McLaren, Vincent Warren touched hands with history. Organized by Dean Carol Becker and David Henry Hwang, the festival will present readings of three plays by living international playwrights that were not originally written in English:

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will present the Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert featuring screenings of the complete film with Oscar-winning composer John Williams' musical score performed live with the film on September 7, 8 and 9 2018 at Cincinnati Music Hall. The three performances will be led by Cincinnati Pops conductor John Morris Russell.

Fleetwood Mac has announced their North American tour that will cover more than 50 cities and carry them through until the spring of 2019. The tour is produced by Live Nation and launches October 3, 2018 in Oklahoma. See the full list of tour dates below.

American Idols and real-life couple, Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young have signed on to star in the upcoming musical, HIT HER WITH THE SKATES, by Christine Rea & Rick Briskin,

The tenor Charles Sy, a native of Toronto, is the First Place winner of the Oratorio Society of New York's 2018 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. The award was announced by Competition Chairwoman Janet Plucknett following a performance by eight finalists in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 14. The Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing, is now in its 42nd year.
