According to The Washington Post, Molly Smith, artistic director of Arena Stage has signed on to direct a production of Eric Coble's THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN on Broadway in the Spring of 2013, a production that'll mark Broadway debuts for both. Lead producer Larry Kaye has said that signed on to star will be Estelle Parsons and Stephen Spinella.

Happy Birthday, Julie Andrews! Andrews made her Broadway debut in 1954 with The Boy Friend, and rose to prominence starring in other musicals such as My Fair Lady and Camelot, and in musical films such as Mary Poppins (1964), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, and The Sound of Music (1965). She has starred in films such as The Princess Diaries (2001), its sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004), the Shrek animated films (2004-2010), and Despicable Me (2010).

Principal Guest Conductor Leonard Slatkin will lead the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) in a weekend of BNY Mellon Grand Classics concerts that feature the world premiere of Arlington Sons.

Bay Area audiences will have the opportunity to experience a lost musical theatre treasure when 42nd Street Moon presents the first ever post-Broadway production of a musical collaboration by the composers of My Fair Lady and Brigadoon, CARMELINA. The show has a beautiful score by Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane and a saucy book by Lerner and Joseph Stein, whose Fiddler on the Roof remains one of the world's most popular musicals, but CARMELINA nevertheless vanished from sight. Diversionary Theatre announced complete casting for its production of PIPPIN, the extraordinary musical journey with book & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Roger O. Hirson and directed by James Vasquez. Performances begin at Diversionary Theatre (4545 Park Blvd San Diego, CA 92116) tonight, September 15.

Assassins will be directed at The Milwaukee Rep by Artistic Director Mark Clements. As BroadwayWorld previously announced, Gerald Goehring, Michael F. Mitri and Dorothy Berloni are developing BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE, a new Broadway musical based on the popular 2000 novel by Kate DeCamillo. Casting for a developmental reading is currently underway and set to take place in early March. This is set to be followed by an out of town engagement and Broadway production, the timing of which will be confirmed at a later date.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival recently announced the casting of the first ten actors for the 2012 season. All are familiar faces, having appeared at the Festival in the past.
