Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's virtuosic musicians serve as musical tour guides for In Focus, the Orchestra's newest chamber music series curated by Concertmaster Margaret Batjer, which concludes its inaugural season with special guest Robert Thies, piano, and Principal Oboe Claire Brazeau, joining Batjer and LACO musicians on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, 7:30 pm, at Rothenberg Hall, The Huntington in San Marino, and Thursday, May 10, 2018, 7:30 pm, at Moss Theatre in Santa Monica. 

During Vinitaly, Veronafiere's wine2digital space will present a unique line-up of events: from a breakfast with wine influencers, to a talk about Millennials and wine, to tastings with wines coming from all over the world. Once more, Vinitaly International in collaboration with the Vinitaly International Academy and other partners will showcase international wine cultures with a wide range of tastings and business opportunities.

Though the songwriting team of Robert Wright and George Forrest is best remembered by Broadway enthusiasts for adapting the music of Edvard Grieg into SONG OF NORWAY and similarly using the melodies of Alexander Borodin to create their score for KISMET, their greatest success came when director/choreographer Tommy Tune took interest in a musical of theirs that fizzled into obscurity on its way to Broadway, then known as AT THE GRAND.

When Encores! decided to begin a search for the show's biggest fan from the original run- a woman who appeared in a commercial for the show in 1992- the internet came to the rescue.

The New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL) will hold its annual Spring Gala at New York's Metropolitan Club (1 E 60th St, New York, NY 10022) on Thursday evening, April 5, 2018, starting at 6:00 pm. The organization will honor renowned opera singer and recitalist Stephanie Blythe with the NYCHORAL Music Excellence Award for her contributions to the musical profession, as well as Sylvia R. Hoisington who is celebrating her 50th season with the chorus. Produced in partnership with the Richard Tucker Music Foundation, the evening's showcase performance will feature soprano Amanda Majeski and tenor Ben Bliss, both of whom will be participating in the Metropolitan Opera's production of Cosi fan tutte from March 15 to April 9, 2018. Members of the NYCHORAL Chamber Ensemble will also perform. The evening will feature a silent auction of unique items and experiences. The program is as follows:

Violinist Simone Porter has been recognized as an emerging artist of impassioned energy, musical integrity and vibrant sound. The Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient will make her Broad Stage solo recital debut on Saturday, March 10.

The Art of the Score, exploring some of the most distinctive uses of music in film, will return for its fifth season with Amadeus: Live, the New York Premiere screening of Amadeus with the Mozart-centered score performed live to the complete film. Conducted by Richard Kaufman in his Philharmonic debut and featuring Musica Sacra, directed by Kent Tritle, Amadeus: Live will take place Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, April l4 at 7:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. On April 11 actor Alec Baldwin - Philharmonic Board Member and Artistic Advisor of The Art of the Score - and special guest F. Murray Abraham - who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Salieri - will introduce the film.

This week, the CMA Foundation partnered with award-winning songwriters Nicolle Galyon and Emily Weisband and Country artist Danielle Bradbery to visit schools and surprise students and teachers throughout Kansas.
