If you're wondering whether or not 2013 was a fantastic year for the cabaret art form in New York, all you have to do is scan the amazing list of nominees for this year's BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards and you'll know it was one of the best ever. So now it's time for all you cabaret performers and fans to vote for the best singers, musicians, songs, and shows of the year. Voting will continue until Sunday night January 5 and the winners will be announced later that week. We hope that all the winners will be able to perform in the Award show on Sunday night February 23 at Joe's Pub.

Louise Dearman will lead the cast of the world premiere of a brand new musical inspired by Charles Kingsley's classic novel, The Water Babies. The first actress to have played both Glinda and Elphaba in the global smash-hit musical Wicked, Dearman makes her Curve debut as Mrs D.

The Day Before brings together more than 60 composers, writers, filmmakers, and visual artists to contribute original work around the theme November 21, 1963: The Day Before. Sparked by the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, this moving production reimagines the world as it was on the eve of that tragic and cataclysmic day.

TV Guide reports Carol Burnett was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. It is the country's top humor Honor.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Broadway opening of Weill's One Touch of Venus. Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Rafe Spall star on Broadway in Harold Pinter's Betrayal, directed by ten-time Tony Award-winner Mike Nichols. Betrayal begins performances tonight, October 1 at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). Opening night is Sunday, November 3. Betrayal is a strictly limited engagement, running 14 weeks only, through January 5, 2014.

The Emory Cinematheque, a weekly series of free 35mm screenings, presents 'American Comedy Classics,'beginning Wednesday August 28 with Billy Wilder's 'Some Like it Hot' (1959). The screenings take place each Wednesday (plus one Sunday evening) in White Hall 205. A screening of Buster Keaton's films will take place on Sunday, September 29 at 7:30. A special screening of Paul Schrader's 'Mishima' (1985) will be held on Wednesday September 25 as part of famed composer Philip Glass's visit to Emory.

Dance company ZooNation presents the world premiere of their new show Groove On Down The Road, written & directed by Kate Prince, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, at the Southbank Centre, beginning tonight, 10 Aug to 1 Sep 2013, as part of the Southbank Centre's Festival.

Last March, the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd. in downtown Aurora, caused a big stir among its nearly 20,000 subscribers by revealing a blockbuster line-up for its 2013-14 Broadway Subscription Series: IN THE HEIGHTS (September 11-October 6, 2013); MISS SAIGON (October 30-November 24, 2013); 42ND STREET (January 15-February 9, 2014); and RENT (March 12-April 6, 2014).

Aurora's Paramount Theatre will launch its third Broadway subscription series this September with the first local professional staging of In the Heights, one of Broadway's most acclaimed contemporary musicals, a potent reminder of the importance of chasing one's dreams, and the show all of Chicago will be talking about this fall.
