The 38th Kritzerland show is devoted to the incredible songs of Maltby and Shire. For Broadway, they've written the musicals Baby and Big (and Maltby provided the English lyrics for Miss Saigon), and there have been two major off-Broadways revues of their work, Starting Here, Starting Now and Closer than Ever. Their latest musical, Take Flight, took flight in London a few years ago. Their song "Starting Here, Starting Now" was sung by Barbra Streisand. As always, we have the songs you'll know and a few you won't. Producer Bruce Kimmel has recorded many of their songs, including the world premiere of "Stop, Time" from Big and he also produced a memorable album entitled "David Shire at the Movies," an album devoted to Shire's film music, with Shire at the piano, Maureen McGovern singing Shire's film songs, and some of the best musicians in Hollywood playing his film themes. Some of his Hollywood output includes Norma Rae (Oscar for Best Song), All the President's Men, The Conversation, The Promise, The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3, and many others.

The songs of Maltby and Shire are a singer's dream, and Kritzerland has assembled a great cast, which includes Sally Mayes who was one of the original stars of Closer than Ever off-Broadway (and on the cast album CD); John Sloman, who appeared in Maltby and Shire's Big on Broadway; and Will Collyer, who starred in Big here in town. We may even have a surprise guest star and there's a rumor that the elusive Guy Haines may also make an appearance, having introduced a beautiful Malty and Shire song on the first Unsung Musicals album. So, join us for an evening of beautiful, funny, romantic and touching songs from the brilliant team of Maltby and Shire.
