Piedmont Players Theatre (PPT) is proud to announce the line up for its 54th season! The 2014-2015 season will be a little different this year. Instead of the standard fall musical this year, PPT will collaborate with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra on a truly spectacular production of Les Miserables which will take place Oct 17-19 at Keppel Auditorium on the campus of Catawba College. Although Les Miserables is not considered part of the season, 2014-2015 PPT Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to Les Mis now. General tickets to the public will not go on sale until the first week of September; only PPT and SSO season tickets holders will be able to reserve seats for the Keppel performance until after Labor Day.

Lynne Meadow and Barry Grove have announced casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming world premiere of LOST LAKE, the new play by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. The play will feature Oscar nominee John Hawkes (The Sessions, Winter's Bone) and Tracie Thoms (Rent, "Cold Case").

Due to popular pre-sale demand, a year in advance, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will extend Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning TALLEY'S FOLLY, the second fully staged production to be performed in the company's second stage performance space, Harry's UpStage. The company will add a sixth show to the existing performance weeks and will extend the original run dates an additional two weeks. Aurora Theatre Company pays homage to Lanford Wilson with "The Talley Trilogy." America's Orchestra opened its 129th spring season with Keith Lockhart conducting and Jason Alexander as special guest artist. Best known as Seinfeld's best buddy George Costanza, the Tony Award-winning Alexander is a consummate showman and offered a celebration of Broadway music to complement the Pops' selections by American masters from Copland to Ellington to Gershwin.

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) congratulates the 50th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, announced today by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. The 20 Scholars in the Arts, all 2014 YoungArts Winners, were nominated to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars by YoungArts, and selected based on academic, civic and artistic achievement. The award, presented on behalf of the President of the United States, is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an artistically talented graduating high school senior. Each year, up to 141 high school seniors are recognized as U.S. Presidential Scholars for their accomplishments.

Sundance Institute today announced the nine projects selected to participate in its 2014 Theatre Lab, July 7-27 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. The Lab is the centerpiece of the Institute's year-round work with the theatre community and is one of 10 residential labs the Institute will host for artists this summer, collectively representing the most promising new independent theatre and film projects.

A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years. San Diego Musical Theatre announces their first production of 2014 - CATS, (press opening on Saturday, March 22) at the North Park Theatre.

Reeling from the loss of what she thought was the love of her life, public television employee Annie Wilson has lost her faith in God, men and even PBS. She finds a spiritual combatant in Elliot, who is happy to deliberate the specifics of his Catholic beliefs without having a firm grasp on them. Through his persistence and faith, Elliot hopes to teach her what it truly means to be in love forever.

History Theatre's March repertoire will put two plays on stage which each explore the experiences of soldiers during and after two of America's most recent wars. The Things They Carried by Worthington native Tim O'Brien in the award winning novel about the Vietnam War seen through the eyes of an American soldier. It is being adapted for the stage by local storyteller Jim Stowell and performed as a one-man show by Stephen D'Ambrose, directed by Leah Cooper.

On Monday, March 24, 2014, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (Charles Weldon, Artistic Director; Karen Brown, Executive Director) and Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) will unite in a day-long celebration of the life and works of Tony Award-nominated playwright Leslie Lee. Lee passed away in New York City on January 20, 2014.
