Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces programming for the 2019 2020 season at the Boston Opera House. How do you scale down an epic musical like RAGTIME for a smaller stage and a different time? When it opened at the Shubert Theatre in Century City in 1997, the cast numbered nearly fifty, the same as it would for its Broadway debut later that year. The stage was enormous and the production filled every inch of it. I still remember how the sheer volume of the choral numbers gave me chills.

Oscar-qualifying New York Int'l Children's Film Festival announced the complete short film lineup for its 2019 event, which runs February 22-March 17 at theaters throughout New York: IFC Center, Scandinavia House, Quad Cinemas, SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, Alamo Drafthouse and the Museum of the Moving Image. Established in 1997, the acclaimed Festival is the nation's largest for children and teens and will present new animated, live action, documentary and experimental shorts and features from 37 countries. Comedian/actor/broadcaster Donald E. Lacy Jr. will perform the New York debut of his one man show, 'ColorStruck,' at Theater for the New City February 28 to March 17, 2019. The play was born in California's Bay Area and has been presented on college campuses around the country and at the National Black Theatre Festival. It has been presented twice for the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus.

RFD-TV began airing reruns of Hee Haw in September 2008 and remains one of the most watched programs on the network. Now in 2019, eleven years later, Hee Haw is celebrating its 50-year anniversary since its first-run on CBS in 1969. In celebration, RFD-TV will broadcast a live two-hour special on Thursday, January 31st at 10pm ET / 9pm CT that will include the Kornfield Friends – Jana Jae, Misty Rowe, Lulu Roman, and Buck Trent – along with additional cast members Victoria Hallman, Irlene Mandrell, Diana Goodman-McDaniel and members of The Nashville Edition. American Blues Theater announces the addition of five new Ensemble members and one new Artistic Affiliate to the Blues family. Joining the Ensemble is director, designer and Associate Producer Elyse Dolan, who directed several works in past Ripped and Blue Ink festivals; designer Jared Gooding, lighting designer of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story; actor Philip Earl Johnson, who is slated to appear in the upcoming Chicago premiere of Steven Dietz's On Clover Road; director Chuck Smith, director of the recent American Blues production of Pearl Cleage's Flyin' West; and actress and playwright Wandachristine, who won many awards for her solo performance Beauty's Daughter. Actor Zachary Stevenson has been named an Artistic Affiliate. Stevenson recently made his Chicago debut as 'Buddy Holly' in American Blues Theater's Joseph Jefferson Award-winning musical Buddy - the Buddy Holly Story, in which he also won a Jeff Award for Performance in a Musical.
