Diversionary Theatre has announced their Season 36 lineup of new LGBTQ work. With 4 new works on The Robert L. Granat and Albert J. Mazur Mainstage exploring how our LGBTQ family defines home, Diversionary welcomes the community back to their newly renovated theatre home, and their new social and performance venue The Austin & Joann Clark Cabaret. 

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has announced a return to live performance with the first production of its 2021 season: AN ILIAD, running July 14 – August 6 under the Tent at Walker Farm.

Laden with sugary harmonies, reminiscent of Stevenson's power-pop driven 2015 effort c*cksure, the new track is an “instant indie classic” anti-anthem; a sour grapes song about unrequited love and the inevitability that it too will grow stale. 

The West Coast Premiere of the off Broadway production, The Wake of Dick Johnson, performed live and in person by writer and director Luke Walker, will be part of the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Tickets go on sale July 16.

Long Beach Opera announced today that the company is promoting Dr. Derrell Acon to the position of Associate Artistic Director & Chief Impact Officer effective immediately. The Wallis commemorates Juneteenth with UNMASKED: A THEATRICAL CELEBRATION OF THE BLACK WOMEN’S LIBERATION premiering online June 19, 2021. This collection of short plays by Black female playwrights Dominique Morisseau, Jocelyn Bioh, Ngozi Anyanwu and Stacy Osei-Kuffour will be co-directed by Camille Jenkins and Kimberly Hébert. New York Theatre Workshop has announced the complete 2021/22 Season as well as initial work for the 2022/23 Season. The 2021/22 season begins this summer with Semblance by Obie Award winner, NYTW Usual Suspect & former 2050 Fellow Whitney White.

In celebration of Pride Month, Broadway Records has announced the release of the new concept recording of BITTERSUMMER: A New Musical. This recording establishes a new frontier of LGBT musical theater storytelling with queer stories, queer writers, all queer characters and an entirely queer cast.

Multiple GRAMMY-nominated harpist Yolanda Kondonassis and The Cleveland Orchestra's principal trumpet Michael Sachs announce the world premiere video performance of Aaron Jay Kernis' Elegy . . . for those we lost. Kernis wrote this work just one year ago offering music to reflect, mourn, and remember those lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is presented for the first time in this arrangement created especially for Sachs and Kondonassis.

The Washington Ballet will conclude its all-digital 2020/21 season with Silas Farley's Werner Sonata and Dana Genshaft's Orpheus, premiering on the global arts streaming platform Marquee TV beginning June 18, 2021, at 7:00PM ET.
