Broadway Across America in partnership with the Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Mahan as Vice President of Venue Operations of the Hippodrome. Mahan, an 18-year commercial theatre veteran, joins the Hippodrome from Broadway In Boston, Boston's largest presenter and producer of Broadway.

Spring activities for the Centennial, which continues through all of 2019, include a wide range of performances, film screenings, discussions, education initiatives, community programming, and new works by other artists in conversation with Merce Cunningham's work.

Theatre Forward and Chairman John Thomopoulos will lead a celebration to support American theatre at the annual Chairman's Awards Gala on Monday, April 8, 2019 at The Pierre (2 East 61st Street).

Oakland University to welcome Aeolus Quartet, clarinetist Franklin Cohen for Jan. 20 concert

The award-winning Aeolus Quartet is joined by revered clarinetist Franklin Cohen, former principal of the Cleveland Orchestra, for three concerts on the Chamber Music Society of Detroit's new regional partner series. The concerts take place Friday, January 18, 7:30 PM in the Patriot Theater at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial; Saturday, January 19, 7:30 PM at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton; and Sunday, January 20, 3:00 PM at Oakland University's Varner Recital Hall in Rochester Hills. The program features Mozart's masterful Clarinet Quintet, as well as an early Beethoven Quartet, Op. 18, No. 3 in D major, and American composer Ben Johnston's String Quartet No. 4, Variations on Amazing Grace.

Theatre for a New Audience presents About Alice, the world premiere of a new play by Calvin Trillin, inspired by his 2007 memoir of the same name. The production, directed by Leonard Foglia, plays January 8-February 3, 2019 at Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Place, Brooklyn). 

Concert to Honor Tree of Life Synagogue Victims on PBS December 11

NBC begins 2019 with music's biggest names in an evening that can't be missed. "NBC's New Year's Eve" will feature performances by the incredible Diana Ross, Kelly Clarkson, Andy Grammer, John Legend and Blake Shelton. 

BroadwayHD, the world's premiere online streaming platform delivering more than 250 premium live productions to theatre fans globally, today announced that the Geffen Playhouse production of the Drama Desk Award-winning piece The Lion will debut on the platform December 6.  The Lion will join Pulitzer Prize-winning show Long Day's Journey Into Night, and Pulitzer Prize Finalist Play Thom Pain, as the third title to stream on the platform, in partnership with Geffen Playhouse.  The show is directed by Kevin S. Concert to Honor Tree of Life Synagogue Victims on PBS December 11

Current Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee Todd Rundgren will be embarking on the world's first hybrid concert/book tour this spring, highlighting both his hits as well as "deep tracks" spanning his 50-year career.

Last night, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 60th Anniversary holiday season at New York City Center kicked off with a star-studded Opening Night Gala Benefit performance and party led by Artistic Director Robert Battle, with iconic film stars Angela Bassett and Cicely Tyson as honorary chairs. Prudential Financial received the Ailey Legacy Honor for their generous support and commitment to Ailey, especially its education and community programs. The award was presented by Battle and Christopher Taylor, an alumnus of the inaugural AileyCamp Newark (2011) and a current scholarship student at The Ailey School, and accepted by Lata Reddy, Senior Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Impact at Prudential Financial.

Today, to mark the forthcoming reissues of Paul McCartney's 11th and 12th classic works from his revered catalogue, 'Dear Friend', the John Lennon-inspired closing track to Paul McCartney And Wings' debut album 'Wild Life', has been made available to hear as two special instant grats. The first a remastered version, and the second a beautifully intimate unreleased home recording. The newly named Hamlen-Palm Series will welcome three legendary performances in one intimate space: mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, the Emerson String Quartet and pianist Andre Watts. The house concerts are produced by and benefit Classical Action, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
