Macy Medford and Arden Guice may only be college students, but their performances as Violet and Daisy Hilton, the heroines of Side Show - the iconic musical by Bill Russell, Henry Krieger and Bill Condon that debuted on Broadway some 20 years ago - in Belmont University Musical Theatre's production that runs for just one weekend, are nothing less than a professional triumph for each young woman. Thoroughly committed and startlingly focused, Medford and Guice perform an oftentimes tricky, always challenging, task in order that the two young women effectively become their characters, ensuring the musical packs an emotional wallop delivered straight to the collective heart of its audience, while showcasing the evolution of a musical theatre program at the Nashville university, which over the years has gained a national reputation as the training ground of the next generations of Broadway stars yet to be.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts is pleased to present White Outs, an exhibition by artist Eddie Martinez, which will be on view November 14, 2018 through February 17, 2019. Widely recognized for his large-scale paintings, Martinez has built a consistent body of work over the last decade, successfully merging the tradition of American abstract painting with the energy of the street. These paintings began as Sharpie drawings, then were blown-up, silkscreened, and painted over in a careful, yet unfailingly dynamic, process of layering and expansion. In these new works, created especially for this exhibition, Martinez introduces a new element to his process-the "whiting out" of parts of the composition. It is a move that represents a significant turning point in his career.

Cincinnati Opera and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) are pleased to announce that The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a new grant of $550,000 to renew funding for Opera Fusion: New Works and support two new initiatives to promote diverse voices in the arts.

CreativeChaos vmg, the award-winning production company known for powerful documentaries that move cultural conversation, will be unveiling two projects this November at DOC NYC - This Changes Everything (November 14th) and the HBO documentary film Bleed Out (November 13th). Since its inception, the disruptive content creator has achieved significant success with major global distribution and award-recognition (including a Gracie Award and Emmy nomination in 2014 for the HBO documentary Casting By). The Bay Area Theatre Company opens One Googol and One by Aidaa Peerzada on Friday  December 7 (preview Dec. 6th) running through December 22 2018 at Brava Theater Center. One Googol and One is a play about historical injustices and how each of our stories from the past shape our modern identities. City Opera Vancouver presents the astonishing and macabre operatic thriller, Nigredo Hotel, on September 20 - 22, 2018 at 8pm at The Cultch Historic Theatre. Internationally renowned opera stars Tyler Duncan and Sarah Vardy will perform a brilliant Jungian-inspired combat between two of the most unusual characters in 20th century opera, backed by a four-player jazz combo.
