The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today details for upcoming events in Print Screen, a recurring series bridging the worlds of cinema and literature where authors present films that complement and inspire their work, followed by discussions and book signings.

New Worlds Theatre Project (Ellen Perecman, Producing Artistic Director) has announced that it will present the world premiere of David Pinski's comic tragedy, Professor Brenner, directed by Paul Takacs, in a translation by Ellen Perecman, beginning Sunday, November 1 at 2pm at HERE, 145 Sixth Avenue. The opening night is set for Monday, November 2 at 7pm.

Harold Pinter was born in Hackney, in London's East End, in October of 1930. An only child, he was born to Jewish parents of very moderate means; his father, a tailor, and his mother, a homemaker, were first-generation descendants of Eastern European immigrants. Like many of his contemporaries, Pinter's childhood was shaped by the onslaught of World War II; at the age of nine, he was evacuated from London through Operation Pied Piper and resettled in a town in Cornwall. The sense of isolation he felt in Cornwall would come to influence his work, as would the changed London to which he returned during the Blitz, where he was witness to, as his 2008 Guardianobituary put it, 'the dramatic nature of wartime life - the palpable fear, the sexual desperation, the genuine sense that everything could end tomorrow.'

Set to Shostakovich's galvanic score, Alexei Ratmansky's crowd-pleasing Concerto DSCH, an “endlessly suspenseful construction [with] passages of breathtaking dance brilliance” (New York Times) dazzles the eyes and ears with its playful, propulsive energy and glimpses of storytelling. In Kent Stowell's primal Carmina Burana, a grand-scale synthesis of dance, chorus, and orchestra, the famous cantata's poems materialize as the entire Company unites song and score for a jubilant communal experience under Carmina scenic designer Ming Cho Lee's colossal golden wheel. The program also includes a musical prelude to shine the spotlight on the world famous PNB Orchestra, currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary.  CARMINA BURANA runs for seven performances only, May 29 through June 7 at Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. Miller Theatre constantly seeks ways to enrich the concertgoing experience. This new season sees developments on two fronts: concert-as-theater, and artist residencies.

It's simple: if you don't know Meryl Streep, you've been living under a rock for the past 30 years or so. She's dominated the Academy Awards since the early 1980s, earning a whopping 19 Oscar nominations for roles as varied as the colors of the rainbow. She's only won three of those coveted golden statues thus far (slacker), but fans are hoping that this year, she'll take home number four.

Shortly after Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met the first day of rehearsal as chorus members in a Sydney, Australia production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in May 1975, they realized that they had many things in common including having seen The Beatles perform in concert in 1964. When they first performed at local clubs on nights after 'Jesus Christ Superstar' had ended, they could never have imagined that their musical partnership would last four times as long as that of their idols.

When Andre De Shields steps onto the stage next week in Arena Stage's revival of August Wilson's King Hedley II, it will mark another in a series of firsts in a remarkable career.
