Amazon Publishing today announced that the annual Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award (ABNA) contest, which seeks great new voices in popular fiction, will open to submissions on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Authors can submit their work in the categories of general fiction, mystery/thriller, romance, science fiction/fantasy/horror, and young adult fiction. A finalist will be chosen from each category with one Grand Prize winner receiving an Amazon Publishing contract and a $50,000 advance. Four additional finalists will receive an Amazon Publishing contract and a $15,000 advance.

Sundance Institute announced today the members of the six juries awarding prizes at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Short Film Awards will be announced at a ceremony on January 21 at Park City's Jupiter Bowl. Feature film awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 25 in Park City, hosted by husband-and-wife duo Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally and livestreamed at www.sundance.org/live. Offerman headlines the film Nick Offerman: American Ham in the Festival's Premieres section. Mullally voices a character in the English-language version of Ernest and Celestine, which will have its world premiere in the Festival's new Sundance Kids section.

San Francisco Girls Chorus Continues Its 35th Season with Benjamin Britten's NOYE'S FLUDDE, 3/29

San Francisco, CA, December 20, 2013 – The five-time Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus--Lisa Bielawa, Artistic Director and Valérie Sainte-Agathe, Music Director and Principal Conductor—continues its 35th anniversary season with a fully staged production of Benjamin Britten's 1957 opera Noye's Fludde, based on the biblical deluge story, in one performance only, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 8 pm at Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco. Conducted by Ms. Sainte-Agathe, the cast will feature guest artists Carey Perloff as The Voice of God, bass-baritone Joe Chappell as Noah, mezzo-soprano Silvie Jensen as Mrs. Noah and other soloist roles performed by members of the San Francisco Girls Chorus, to be announced. The production will be staged by Ariel Craft and will feature original art, costumes and set pieces created by members of San Francisco's acclaimed Creativity Explored, supported by a grant from the Creative Work Fund. This special benefit performance will include an introduction by the Nomi community, a talk back with the cast and creative team of Byuioo, and a wine reception.

The Michigan Shakespeare Festival is proud to announce the opening of their 2013/2014 Touring Performances. From November 4, 2013 through May 30, 2014 the MSF tour will perform Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet for high schools, libraries, community organizations, and senior centers throughout Southern Michigan, Northern Indiana and Northern Ohio. Adapted and directed by award-winning MSF Artistic Director Janice L. Blixt, productions run approximately 100 minutes and are available for booking at any time throughout the year. Tickets are $8.00 per?person with a minimum of 150 audience members per show (teachers, chaperones and organizers each receive a complimentary ticket).

Richmond Ballet is pleased to announce the line-up for the 30th Anniversary Celebration performance, debuting at the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage, November 1-3, 2013. This special performance, celebrating the Ballet's 30 years as a professional company will feature George Balanchine's Serenade, the company premiere of Jerome Robbins's Fancy Free and Salvatore Aiello's The Rite of Spring. Serenade, George Balanchine's famous blue, neo-classical work – his first ballet to be choreographed in America – marked a turning point in the history of American ballet. Fancy Free, the inspiration for the film On The Town, signaled that Robbins was to be one of the most influential American choreographers of the 20th century. The Rite of Spring, the groundbreaking ballet set to the music by Igor Stravinsky, is now celebrating its centennial year, and returns to the Richmond Ballet repertory after a highly successful run at the Virginia Arts Festival in May of 2013.
