Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol is returning to Frederick for the twentieth straight year with Maryland Ensemble Theatre's production tonight, December 20 through 22 at the Weinberg Center for the Arts.

The five-time Grammy-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus-Lisa Bielawa, Artistic Director, and Valerie Sainte-Agathe, Music Director and Principal Conductor-- will present two holiday concerts, today, December 6 and the 22nd at First Congregational Church in Berkeley and Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, respectively.

The most wonderful time of the year is underway as Goodman Theatre's A Christmas Carol begins its 36th annual production. Directing the holiday favorite for the first time, Henry Wishcamper's production features all-new on stage magic-set elements, special effects and more. The cast of 27 (below, includes 14 new and 13 returning cast members) stars Larry Yando, who most recently appeared in Mary Zimmerman's production of The Jungle Book as Shere Khan, in his sixth turn as Ebenezer Scrooge and 8-year-old Matthew Abraham as Tiny Tim for the second year. Producing Artistic Director Carolyn Griffin has announced A Broadway Christmas Carol, created by Kathy Feininger, will return to MetroStage for a fourth season for the holidays tonight, Nov. 21-Dec. 22. It has been produced the past three seasons and has become a holiday tradition here at MetroStage. Prior to 2009, it had played to sold out houses at Round House Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland, for seven consecutive years ending in 2004.

Performances run tonight, November 12 - December 22 at The Flea (41 White Street between Church and Broadway in Tribeca).

The cast of over two dozen actors portraying the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future will transport audiences to Victorian England as the penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge learns the error of his miserly ways and embraces the true spirit of Christmas. 'We really do feel like it's a holiday gift we can give to our community,' said the show's director Julie Herber. 'The spirit of the show is infectious, the energy we feel greeting the audience after the show is always so cheerful and heartwarming.'

The show will run December 20 and 21 at 7:30pm and December 21 and 22 at 2pm at the Weinberg Center for Arts (20 West Patrick Street, Frederick). Cutler has been involved in 30 productions at the Guthrie since 1993, including five productions of A Christmas Carol - appearing as Ebenezer Scrooge (2011), Bob Cratchit (1995, 1997), Banker (1996) and Young Scrooge (1993, 1994) - and was last seen on a Guthrie stage in this past summer's original romantic comedy Pride and Prejudice. The Flea Theater has announced the World Premiere of Mallery Avidon's MARY-KATE OLSEN IS IN LOVE. This satire about love and growing-up and "being real" will be directed by Flea Resident Director Kristen Seemel and feature members of The Bats. Previews begin November 1 with opening slated for November 18. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "this witty and wise play by on-the-rise writer Mallery Avidon tackles the notion of love, sex and marriage and the challenges of 20-somethings who think they know how to have it all."

Clybourne Park will be directed by DTC Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell. Clybourne Park begins with a Pay-What-You-Can performance tonight, October 4 and runs through Sunday, October 27 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

The 40-voice San Francisco Girls Chorus will present "Noel, Noel" Friday, December 6, at 8 pm at First Congregational featuring holiday favorites and an audience sing-along. These 40 award-winning young artists will be joined by the full complement of nearly 400 members of the San Francisco Girls Chorus School, from ages 5 to 18, for the annual Davies Hall holiday extravaganza, Sunday, December 22, at 8 pm. This year's edition, entitled "Hark, the Herald Angels Swing!" will feature the Marcus Shelby Quintet and Shelby's new arrangements of "Go Tell It On The Mountain" and "Hark the Herald" written especially for the San Francisco Girls Chorus plus other seasonal favorites and an audience sing-along. Following an extensive search process, PICT Theatre's board of directors has appointed Alan Stanford as the company's producing artistic director. Stanford has been serving as the interim producing artistic director since February. Board president Eugene O'Sullivan said, "We were fortunate to find someone of Alan's caliber to lead this organization at a most critical time. His experience as well as his performance in the intervening months proved he was the best of all of the candidates for the job."
