It's time for the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis and the Smith family couldn't be more excited. Journey back in time with the Yardley Players as they present "Meet Me in St. Louis" at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) Kelsey Theatre. Dates and show times for this charming musical are Fridays, July 18 and 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, July 19 and 26 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, July 20 and 27 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The Brevard Music Center Presents Renowned Conductor Matthias Bamert Tonight

The Brevard Music Center (BMC) welcomes the return of renowned conductor Matthias Bamert for a pair of concerts. Tonight, June 27, at 7:30 p.m., Bamert will conduct the Brevard Music Center Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's final and most innovative piano concerto - the Emperor concerto. Internationally-acclaimed pianist Ingrid Fliter will perform Beethoven's towering masterpiece that will demonstrate why Beethoven remains one of classical music's greatest composers. Bamert returns on Saturday, June 28, for a concert featuring Stravinsky's witty and playful Symphony in C and oboist Eric Ohlsson performing Strauss's incredible oboe concerto.

The producers of ON THE TOWN announced today that Megan Fairchild(New York City Ballet Principal Dancer), Alysha Umphress (American Idiot) and Elizabeth Stanley (Company) will join the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN, directed by John Rando (Tony Award® for Urinetown) and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse (Emmy Award winner for 'Smash'). Fairchild, a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, will make her Broadway debut playing 'Ivy Smith'. Umphress will play 'Hildy' and Stanley will play 'Claire', both reprising their performances from last summer's acclaimed Barrington Stage production.

Tony Yazbeck (Gypsy, A Chorus Line), Jay Armstrong Johnson (New York Philharmonic's Sweeney Todd, Hands On A Hardbody, Hair), and Clyde Alves (Bullets Over Broadway, Nice Work If You Can Get It) will play the roles of 'Gabey,' 'Chip,' and 'Ozzie' - the sailors on 24-hour shore leave who take on the Big Apple in the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN, directed by John Rando (Tony Award for Urinetown) and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse (Emmy Award winner for 'Smash'). Producers Howard & Janet Kagan (Pippin, The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess) just announced that a new Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN - the musical-comedy love letter to New York City - will open in October 2014 at the Lyric Theatre. This year marks the 70thanniversary of the opening of this iconic musical comedy created by the legendary creative team of Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, and Jerome Robbins. The Lyric Theatre will be reopened after a renovation being completed by its new owners, Ambassador Theatre Group. This historic theater at the crossroads of 42nd Street and Times Square was created from a combination of the original Apollo Theater, and the original Lyric Theatre that stood on the site, and the facade of which still stands on 42nd and 43rd Streets.

Today, we're featuring Lillian Hellman, circa 1984. Hellman was an American author of plays, screenplays, and memoirs and throughout her life, was linked with many left-wing political causes. Hellman's drama, The Children's Hour, premiered on Broadway on November 24, 1934, and ran for 691 performances. It depicts a false accusation of lesbianism by a schoolgirl against two of her teachers. In December 1936, her play Days to Come closed its Broadway run after just seven performances. In it, she portrayed a labor dispute in a small Ohio town during which the characters try to balance the competing claims of owners and workers, both represented as valid. Her play The Little Foxes opened on Broadway on February 13, 1939, and ran for 410 performances. Her play Watch on the Rhine opened on Broadway on April 1, 1941, and ran for 378 performances. It won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award. In April 1944, Hellman's The Searching Wind opened on Broadway. Her third World War II project, it tells the story of an ambassador whose indecisive relations with his wife and mistress mirror the vacillation and appeasement of his professional life.

According to an Equity casting notice, On the Town might be heading back to Broadway. Casting will soon take place for a developmental lab on December 8-19, with an anticipated Broadway revival in early 2014. The project will feature direction by John Rando, who also helmed a 2008 Encores production, and choreography by Josh Bergasse.

Richmond Ballet is pleased to announce the line-up for the 30th Anniversary Celebration performance, debuting at the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage, November 1-3, 2013. This special performance, celebrating the Ballet's 30 years as a professional company will feature George Balanchine's Serenade, the company premiere of Jerome Robbins's Fancy Free and Salvatore Aiello's The Rite of Spring. Serenade, George Balanchine's famous blue, neo-classical work – his first ballet to be choreographed in America – marked a turning point in the history of American ballet. Fancy Free, the inspiration for the film On The Town, signaled that Robbins was to be one of the most influential American choreographers of the 20th century. The Rite of Spring, the groundbreaking ballet set to the music by Igor Stravinsky, is now celebrating its centennial year, and returns to the Richmond Ballet repertory after a highly successful run at the Virginia Arts Festival in May of 2013.
