Barrington Stage Company, under the artistic leadership of Julianne Boyd, is proud to announce two American classics on the roster for Barrington Stage's 2009 Mainstage season.

AQUILA THEATRE COMPANY (Peter Meineck, Artistic Director) is proud to announce that it has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities of $292,585 to launch its newest program, PAGE and STAGE: Theater, Tradition, and Culture in America. No other NY theater company received a grant of this size from the NEH. In fact, this is the largest outright grant to any NY State organization. 'We are thrilled that the NEH is backing this groundbreaking program to combine the performing arts centers and libraries to reach new audiences, ' said Mr. Meineck.

It was announced today that the upcoming previously announced revival of West Side Story will begin previews on February 23, 2009 with an official opening slated for March 19, 2009.

Previews begin tomorrow, Tuesday May 6th, for Signature Theatre Company's world premiere production of Edward Albee's 'Occupant' starring Mercedes Ruehl and Larry Bryggman.

Producers Randall L. Wreghitt, Chris Presley and Ellen Rusconi announced today that PURE COUNTRY, a brand-new original musical, will have its World Premiere as part of the 2008-2009 Broadway Season.

Ths year marks the 50th anniversary of West Side Story, and Barrington Stage Company pays homage to this iconic American musical by producing a version that features an 11-piece orchestra and cast of 25 actors, singers and dancers.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of West Side Story, Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre is producing a new show featuring a full 25-piece orchestra and a cast of 43 actors, singers and dancers.

Bill Kenwright and Marla Rubin announce that they will present the Almeida Theatre production of FESTEN, the hugely successful London play about a family with a dark secret, on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre (239 W. 45th St.), with performances beginning Thursday, March 23. Larry Bryggman, Michael Hayden, Ali MacGraw and Julianna Margulies have been cast in the Broadway production. Directed by Rufus Norris, in a dramatization by David Eldridge from the Danish 1998 film, FESTEN will have its official press opening on Sunday, April 9.

Songwriters who honed their craft at the famed BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop will join together in song for a one-night-only concert on September 14 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street) at 8pm.

Special edition DVDs of State Fair, Oklahoma! and The Sound of Music will be released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on Nov. 15
