The Royal Shakespeare Company has today announced further casting for its forthcoming double-bill of Restoration plays, John Vanbrugh's The Provoked Wife and Thomas Otway's Venice Preserved. The Provoked Wife, directed by Phillip Breen, plays in repertoire from the 2 May 2019 with Venice Preserved, directed by Prasanna Puwanarajah, running from 24 May 2019 in the Swan Theatre.

PEN America presents the 2019 PEN World Voices Festival: Open Secrets (May 6-12), focusing on the dissolving boundary between the public and the private in the literary, cultural, social, and political realms.  A flowering of the genres of literary memoir and personal testimony has been accompanied by increased digital avenues for story-telling, revelation, and expose before both designated and public audiences.

Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Act(s) of God, by Ensemble Member Kareem Bandealy, directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman. Act(s) of God runs February 13 April 7, 2019 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The press performances are February 22 and February 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Quintessence Theatre Group, a professional classic theatre company located in Philadelphia's Mt. Airy neighborhood, takes on Shakespeare's greatest tragedy this spring. KING LEAR, a searing drama about the dangers of absolute power, comes to Quintessence from March 19, 2019 through April 20, 2019. Opening night is Saturday, March 23 at 7:30PM.

Cue Zero Theatre Company, southern New Hampshire's premier theatre troupe, is excited to announce new additions to their 2019 season. After the success of January's Cue Zero Laboratory projects, CZT is adding more performances, workshops, and development opportunities for this winter!

As You Like It, The Taming of the Shrew and Measure for Measure will visit Salford in September 2019, and then Canterbury, Plymouth, Nottingham, Newcastle upon Tyne and Blackpool in early 2020. With rehearsals underway for As You Like It, this is a formative time for Lucy in what is her first encounter with not only the play, but also the character. Talking ensemble and expectations, Lucy also shares her initial impressions of Rosalind, namely (and in her own words): 'How has she not been in my life before now?!'

The Hawaii Shakespeare Festival (HSF) is pleased to announce its eighteenth season--with some big changes. The season kicks off with Shakespeare's final masterpiece, The Tempest, opening July 12. Next up is Much Ado About Nothing, a romantic comedy of codpieces and fake news, opening August 1. The season concludes with Shakespeare's dark tragedy, Macbeth, opening August 9.

The Lyceum Theatre will open its exciting new 8 show season on June 6, 2019 with the Lyceum premiere of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, followed by All Shook Up, 9 to 5 The Musical, Murder For Two, Fully Committed, Crimes of the Heart, Swingtime Canteen, and the sixth annual production of the Lyceum's unique adaptation of the Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol, closing on December 22, 2019.

A sold-out house of theater patrons and supporters shared in the excitement when Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts' Artistic Directors, Kelly Fouchi and Gary Rucker revealed the popular and diverse line-up of productions for the 2019-2020 season Sunday evening, January 27 at the theater in Kenner's historic Rivertown. 

The Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) annual conference came to Prague this year. It has an extensive performance program, crafted by host Guy Roberts and Prague Shakespeare Company, that was open to the public as well as conference attendees. Central Works 2019 Season begins February 16 and runs through November 24, 2019 featuring the world premieres of 4 new plays. Wonderland, a Kafka-esque comedy by Gary Graves, launches Central Works new season opening on Saturday Feb 16, 7pm and runs through March 17 (Previews Feb 14 & 15 at 8pm).  In Wonderland something sinister is going on in the White House. Joseph Kaye is dumbfounded. Without having done anything to deserve it, he's been arrested and transported to a place that looks a lot like the White House. He doesn't know why. Someone must have recommended him. But he's just a bank teller at National Savings and Trust. Why him? No one will tell him anything. So he waits anxiously in an empty room off … the West Wing? There's a woman named Alice. And someone called “The Rabbit.” There's a “Mad Hatter” and a “Red Queen,” too. Is something ghastly going on in the White House? Joseph just wants to do his civic duty. But what exactly is that when you're down the rabbit hole, and through the looking glass? Directed by Jan Zvaifler Wonderland features a cast that includes Martha Brigham*, John Patrick Moore*, Kimberly Ridgeway and Clive Worsley (*member AEA). The production has costume design by Tammy Berlin, lighting design by Gary Graves, prop design by Debbie Shelley and sound design Gregory Scharpen, with stage management by Carolina Stevens.

The International Opera Awards today announces the finalists for its 2019 Awards.

Today, Citadel Theatre's Artistic Director, Daryl Cloran, announced his next season of programming, which includes another exciting international partnership for the Citadel, and many Canadian, North American, and World Premieres. The 2019/20 Season will feature a new series, Highwire, which promises innovative experiences for the theatrically adventurous. And, for the first time, the Citadel will offer a summer musical. It's an ambitious, thrilling season for the Citadel!

Black Ensemble Theater's Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor announces the 43rdSeason of Excellence: Legends and Lessons. The 2019 Season includes tributes to the renowned Gospel great Mahalia Jackson, legendary singer and actress Lena Horne, funk legends from James Brown to The Parliaments, and the legendary Motown artist, American icon and musical genius Stevie Wonder. The season culminates with the return of audience favorite The Other Cinderella. All performances will be held at the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street in Chicago.

Not only does Comedy Central comedian Bill Santiago take on his two favorite frenemies, Religion and Science, in his new show, "The Immaculate Big Bang," but he launches into the audacious material from a poignant narrative framed by the death of his father and subsequent birth of his daughter. Yeah, it's ambitious. And, wait for it… hilarious.
