Yesterday, BroadwayWorld exclusively broke the news that the two-time Tony Award, Grammy Award, and Emmy Award-winning star Hugh Jackman will make his highly anticipated return to Broadway in one of the most iconic roles in the musical theater canon, Professor Harold Hill, in Meredith Willson's beloved classic, THE MUSIC MAN.

Following the huge success of 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL at the Savoy Theatre in London's West End, the producers of the show are delighted to announce that a second production of the hit musical will play 11 cities throughout the UK and Ireland, opening at the Alexandra Theatre Birmingham on 6 September 2019, before visiting Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Glasgow, Woking, Aberdeen, Cardiff, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Dublin. The 2019 Adelaide Festival curated by Artistic Directors Neil Armfield AO and Rachel Healy was steeped in exclusive events, standing ovations, box-office success and critical acclaim. With two days still to go, the Adelaide Festival has set a new record with the biggest box office takings in the event's 59-year history, so far achieving a total box office income in excess of $5,989,183 (figure is inclusive of umbrella shows).

The Howard County Arts Council is pleased to announce the guest performers for the 22nd Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County gala. New York Theatre Workshop announced today that the previously announced new project from Anna Deavere Smith will be postponed as NYTW works with Anna to realize her exciting vision for this upcoming piece.

Louise Redknapp will re-join the cast of 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL in the role of 'Violet Newstead' at the Savoy Theatre, London from 25 March until 29 June 2019. 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL opened in the West End last month, where Dolly Parton attended the premiere and joined the cast on stage at the finale. The show is booking at the Savoy Theatre until 31 August 2019.

The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans will be producing Suddenly Last Summer, Williams' suspenseful 1958 psychodrama in spring this year. The play will be mounted at Loyola University New Orleans and will be a collaboration with the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival.  

The Sauk, Hillsdale County's community theatre, will be one of seven Michigan community theatres competing at the American Association of Community Theatre State Festival on March 15 and 16.

Executive and Artistic Director, Keith Gerth and Associate Artistic Director, Stephen Smith of the Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview announce their next production, the uproarious comedy Play On! by Rick Abbot. New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced that they will present a special one-night-only reading of A Number, by NYTW Usual Suspect and five-time Obie Award winner Caryl Churchill (Love and Information; A Number), directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home, Othello) and featuring Daniel Craig (Othello, Spectre). The reading will benefit NYTW's Artist Workshop and Education programming and will take place at New York Theatre Workshop (79 East 4th Street) Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 7pm.

Eleven screenwriters have been selected to participate in Sundance Institute's seventh annual Screenwriters Intensive in Los Angeles, to take place February 28 - March 1, 2019. Part of the Institute's commitment to introducing the industry to an inclusive pipeline of exciting new storytellers, the Intensive is a two-day workshop for writers or writer/directors from underrepresented communities developing their first fiction feature. Fellows at the Intensive will advance the art and craft of their work under the guidance of experienced filmmakers and in collaboration with Institute's Feature Film Program.

Winner of the 2016 Lysicrates Prize, Dead Cat Bounce is Mary Rachel Brown's darkly funny portrayal of unrequited love and addiction, premiering at Griffin Theatre Company from 22 February - 6 April 2019.
