On Tuesday, October 16, the Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) celebrated the 2018 Princess Grace Awards Gala at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York. Held in the presence of Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco, the Awards Gala honored actor, director, producer, and philanthropist Tim Daly, Tony Award-winning director Sam Gold, and founder of the dance company A.I.M (Abraham.In.Motion) Kyle Abraham. Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth served as mistress of ceremonies for the event.

From October 16th-21st, North Carolina Theatre will be opening their 2018-19 season with a production of Lin-Manuel Miranda & Quiara Alegria Hudes' 2008 award-winning musical, In the Heights, at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Eowyn Ivey's debut novel The Snow Child is reborn as a magical new musical featuring a score that combines Alaskan string-band traditions and contemporary musical theater. The production is directed by professional director and actor Rufus Bonds, Jr. with musical direction by David Lamoureaux and choreography by William F. Lett, running October 26-November 11 in the Little Theatre on campus. Hannah Chissick directs Jasper Britton as (Stewart), Sia Dauda (Sally), Alasdair Harvey (Peter Kroger), Chris Larkin (Bob Jackson), Macy Nyman (Julie Jackson), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Helen Kroger), Natalie Walter (Thelma) and Finty Williams (Barbara Jackson). The production opens on 1 October, with previews from 20 September, and runs until 17 November.

Called the 'first historian of the private consciousness', author Charlotte Bronte explores classism, personal agency, and feminine spirituality in this Gothic mystery. Julie Beckman adapted and directed Jane Eyre for Book-It in 1999 and is directing the 2018 production.

The Las Vegas Philharmonic presents the critically acclaimed horror film, Psycho, on the big screen while the orchestra performs the musical score live on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 7:30 pm in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.  This will be the Philharmonic's first of four Pops concerts during its 20th anniversary season.  Dr. Jonathan Rhodes Lee, Professor of Music at UNLV, will host a pre-concert conversation in Reynolds Hall one hour prior to the performance (6:30 PM) for patrons interested in learning more about the music behind Alfred Hitchcock's classic horror film.  Patrons are encouraged to dress to kill as their favorite Hitchcock character and arrive early for devilish treats and entertainment provided by Red Rock Winds, a woodwind quintet from UNLV's School of Music.

Charlotte Bronte's book, 'Jane Eyre,' is a gothic melodrama which centers on strong-minded Jane's cruel treatment by her sadistic cousin and aunt, being shipped off to jail-like boarding school, departing to become a nanny for the ward of the wealthy but psychologically tortured Edward Fairfax with whom she falls in love, and the resulting angst of secrets revealed.
