In an age where televised live events are becoming more and more popular, rules need to be changed. The Emmys are finally sorting this out, according to Variety. The awards organization has split the special class categories into variety special (live) and variety special (pre-recorded).

It looks like we'll be seeing stars next year as more Broadway names are added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. CBS LA has reported that the full list of entertainment industry professionals have been selected to receive their stars and were announced on Monday.

Mark Cortale, Producing Artistic Director of Provincetown's internationally known Art House theater, has announced that he has begun to search for a new summer location for 2019. Cortale learned last week that the twin 120-seat theaters at The Art House will be gutted by the property owner after the current summer season due to restaurant expansion plans. The news comes on the heels of seven consecutive seasons of remarkable success; thriving outposts of its famed 'Broadway @' music series in major venues across the country and abroad; and the recent announcement of its largest lineup of Broadway, comedy and music stars yet for its P-Town home.

With news coming earlier this month that Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegria Hudes' Tony-winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS has been slated for a June 26, 2020 big-screen release, let's take a look at the other theatrical properties heading to screens large and small. 

Get ready for a brand new season of comfy pants and floor snacks! Creator Natasha Allegri, Frederator Studios (a WOW! Unlimited Media company), and VRV, a fan-focused aggregation platform from Ellation featuring premium SVOD channels, announced today that a new “Bee and PuppyCat” story, “Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy in Space,” is in production and set to launch in 2019. The series will live exclusively on VRV within the Cartoon Hangover Select channel. Tokyo-based OLM, Inc., known for such big hits as the “Pokémon” animated franchise, with support from its subsidiary in L.A. Sprite Animation, will be co-producing with Frederator Studios (“Castlevania,” “Adventure Time,” “The Fairly OddParents”). “Bee and PuppyCat” creator, Natasha Allegri, will serve as showrunner.

The 2018-2019 season includes six Broadway shows, headlined by the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Blockbuster Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. Also coming as part of the Haverland Carter Broadway in New Mexico series are Finding Neverland, The Sound of Music, Kinky Boots, and the newly-restaged Cats. In January 2018, Broadway Across Canada announced the three musical productions coming to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre as part of the company's 2018-2019 season.
