Grease: Live - 2016 - Motion Picture History , Info & More

FOX enrolls at Rydell High with GREASE: LIVE, a one-night musical production of the massively popular crossover musical "Grease." GREASE: LIVE stars Julianne Hough as the angelic "Sandy" - Rydell High's most talked-about newcomer - and Aaron Tveit as bad boy "Danny Zuko." Also tapped to star are Vanessa Hudgens as iconic bad girl "Rizzo," Keke Palmer as the sassy Pink Lady "Marty Maraschino" and Carlos PenaVega as "Kenickie," Danny's tough-guy sidekick. Featuring a young ensemble cast, GREASE: LIVE will reintroduce and reimagine some of the show's most memorable moments, great music and timeless love story to an entirely new generation. In this live television adaptation of the musical classic, the beginning of senior year means the end of Danny and Sandy's summer romance - until Sandy unexpectedly transfers to Danny's high school. Can Danny maintain his bad-boy image as the coolest member of the T-Birds, once he and Sandy start going together, and can Sandy remain a good girl after she joins the Pink Ladies? With their friends Rizzo and Kenickie pulling them in different directions, it's up to Danny and Sandy to stay hopelessly devoted as they make their way from Rydell High to a new frontier.

GREASE: LIVE Took the Live TV Musical to School with Three Important Lessons
by Matt Tamanini - Feb 14, 2016

Now that we are a full two weeks removed from Fox's first foray into the world of live, televised musicals, I think it is time to look back at the lessons learned from GREASE: LIVE. Though I hailed it as a rousing success in my review, on Broadway Radio's 'This Week on Broadway,' and on BWW's 'Some Like it Pop' podcast, there are a fair number of critics and viewers that had perfectly reasonable hesitations. Whether it was occasional sound issues, too strict a reliance on the film for inspiration, the wonky new song, or uneven performances, I am fine with acknowledging those shortcomings; but to me, there are three things that made GREASE: LIVE the most entertaining and artistically satisfying live musical of this recently reinvigorated phenomenon.

Live Musicals im Fernsehen als neuer Trend in den USA und Großbritannien
by Iris Moebius - Mar 4, 2016

Im Jahr 2012 hatte der amerikanische Fernsehsender NBC eine Idee, ob großenwahnsinnig oder genial, das konnte damals noch keiner sagen. Man wolle den Musical Klassiker THE SOUND OF MUSIC im Fernsehen zeigen.
