Burien Pride Takes Place This Saturday, 6/3!

 In the spirit of celebrating National Gay Pride Month, Burien is hosting its first pride celebration sponsored by Gay City, Umpqua Bank, Burien Actors Theater, Burien Nursing and Rehabilitation, BECU and South Seattle Community College. The event will take place on Saturday June 3, 2017 at Burien Town Square Park from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with FREE admission to the public. All proceeds from this event will benefit Burien C.A.R.E.S., a local Burien animal non-profit organization, and Camp Ten Trees, a wonderful Seattle LGBT youth program. (more...)

Live @ Peck Pavilion and Peck Flicks returns to the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts grounds this summer. The season will run from July 6 through August 26 and each day of the series will have a different program focus. This year, Optimist Theatre: Shakespeare in the Park will join the line up on July 6-9, July 13-16 and July 20-22 at 8 pm with a performance on July 18 at 12 pm and they will present Much Ado About Nothing.  All the events in Peck Pavilion will all be free and open to the public. The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director) announces the creative teams and casting for the two original book musicals, COWBOY BOB, created by Molly Beach Murphy, Jeanna Phillips, and Annie Tippe, book by Molly Beach Murphy, music and lyrics by Jeanna Phillips; and GUMBO, music by Brett Macias and book and lyrics by Christina Quintana, conceived by Brett Macias and Christina Quintana, which are being developed in an intensive two-week summer lab at Yale School of Drama, June 13-24. Scott Frankel is the Artistic Advisor, and Catherine Sheehy is the resident Dramaturg for this year's Institute, which culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as part of New Haven's International Festival of Arts & Ideas on June 23 and 24.
