Jeanine Tesori (Music) and David Lindsay-Abaire's (Book and Lyrics) SHREK THE MUSICAL opened in Sydney to the delight of the summer holiday audience.

Award-winning actor, singer and dancer Sutton Foster comes to The Ridgefield Playhouse Friday, October 18 at 8pm, part of Northern Trust Broadway & Cabaret Series. Foster has performed in 11 Broadway shows a?" most recently the revival of Violet a?" and originated roles in the Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, Young Frankenstein, and Shrek The Musical.

A teen-helmed production of the Tony Award-winning rock musical, Spring Awakening, is set to open at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood on May 11, 2019. Directed by 14-year-old wunderkind George Baron, (whose directorial debut for the stage was his jukebox-styled Broadway musical revue I Confess at the Whitefire Theatre), the cast also features up-and-coming young talents performing in the adolescent roles with musical direction by Estani Frizzell. The musical is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 controversial play about teenagers trying to find their way in the world amid the angst of sexual discovery. Featuring music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, the original Broadway production received eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and was hailed by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle as the Best Musical of the Year.

BroadwayWorld announced Monday that two time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster would star in the 2020 revival of The Music Man. She joins fellow Tony winner Hugh Jackman in the Meredith Wilson classic. She'll soon be playing Marian the Librarian, but look back at the roles that led her to become a new icon for this era of Broadway.

On June 5, 2018, the Fulton Theatre launches The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the theatre's season finale and biggest production of the 2017/2018 season.  The Hunchback of Notre Dame will also be one of the largest shows in the theatre's one hundred sixty six year history.
