Parx Casino®, Pennsylvania's #1 casino, announces Avril Lavigne will bring her “Head Above Water” tour to the Philadelphia region on Friday, October 11, 2019. The performances will take place in the Xcite Center with doors opening at 7:00pm and showtime at 8:00pm. This show is the first time the “Sk8er Boi” and “Complicated” singer will perform in Bucks County. Lavigne joins the growing “A-list” roster of entertainers who will take the stage at Parx this year, including Reba McIntire, Wayne Brady, Jay Leno, Foreigner, Sinbad, Leeann Rimes, Toby Keith and many others. The Tallest Man on Earth's new album I Love You. It's A Fever Dream. is out now. The record is Kristian Matsson's first in four years and was written and produced entirely by Matsson himself. NPR Music's “First Listen” describes him as 'the preeminent Swedish one-man folkie reviving the genre.'

Venetia Stifler, executive and artistic director of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, on behalf of the 2019 Ruth Page Award Committee, awarded the 2019 Ruth Page Awards to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and its Artistic Director Robert Battle and Chicago Dance History Project and its Artistic and Executive Director Jenai Cutcher. From the lobby of its home at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Company announced its 45th Anniversary Season last night. Producing Artistic Director Paige Price and Managing Director Emily Zeck announced PTC's slate for 2019-2020, their second producing season at the helm of the theatre. Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault announced that acclaimed Washington actor Craig Wallace will return to Ford's to perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the company's holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Performances of the classic Charles Dickens story begin November 15 and continue for a six-and-a-half-week engagement through December 30, 2018. This "musically high-spirited" and "infectiously jolly" (The Washington Post) production is adapted by Michael Wilson and directed by Michael Baron.

The Madison Square Garden Company (NYSE: MSG) announced today that the 2018 production of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, presented by Chase, will be technologically transformed with the addition of an all-new finale scene and redesigned elements. Directed by Tony, Drama Desk and Olivier Award-nominated director Sam Buntrock (Broadway and West End productions of Sunday in the Park with George), the new finale will include 100 drones that take flight to create a groundbreaking magical holiday light show, and new digital projections from Obscura Digital. After a successful run in Central Park, playing to over 4,000 people, performances resume on Wednesday, June 27 in Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City for New York Classical Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the company's Founding Artistic Director Stephen Burdman. The production will play this week through June 30, before continuing on to The Battery, Carl Schurz Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park for performances through July 29. New York Classical Theatre (Stephen Burdman, Artistic Director), New York City's only all-free professional Off-Broadway theatre company, is pleased to announce a new production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to celebrate its 19th Anniversary Season. The production, directed by Mr. Burdman, is the company's first staging of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers, and will be presented in five New York City parks - Central Park, Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City, The Battery, Carl Schurz Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park - with performances from June 5 through July 29 at 7:00 PM. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. New York Classical Theatre also invites audiences to experience unique behind-the-scenes access to open rehearsals on selected dates for each of the five park stagings.

What does sanctuary from fear, hate, prejudice, violence, and oppression look like? Sanctuary means safety, whether it's safety from ICE, a school shooter, or gentrification. On the tenth anniversary of the LA VIEWS play festival, Company of Angels explores the meaning of sanctuary (protection, fairness, equality, and refuge) as played out in the lives of Angelenos. In an evening of seven short plays by local playwrights, 'L.A. Views X: Sanctuary' examines the American ideal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness within the current political climate in which, at best, many feel unwelcome, and at worst, are targets of hate.

The acclaimed puppet dance theatre company Loco7 will debut their newest work when La MaMa (66 E. 4 St.) presents the world-premiere of the family show DON QUIXOTE TAKES NEW YORK, as part of the La MaMa Kids series with performances beginning April 21, as it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's artistic director.
