The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces a major revival of one of the world's most-beloved musicals of all time, Fiddler on the Roof in a new staging by Trevor Nunn. The production opens on 5 December, with previews from 23 November, and runs until 9 March. Booking opens for supporters of the Menier on 28 August, with public booking on 5 September.

Playwrights Foundation announces the plays and playwrights of the 2018 Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF) running July 20-29, 2018 at Potrero Stage, 1895 18th St in San Francisco. The Artistic Teams for #BAPF2018 features Directors Erik Pearson, Christine Young, Margo Hall, Daniel Banks, Lauren English, and Ken Savage. Dramaturgs joining the teams include Alex Mallory, Maddie Gaw, Lisa Evans, Vidhu Singh, Roweena Mackay, and the Legendary Nakissa Etemad.

The Richmond County Orchestra (RCO), under the direction of Maestro Alan Aurelia, presents: Celebrate America: Patriotic Concert, a patriotic compilation of songs honoring our nation's rich musical heritage. The show is sponsored by Gateway Community Outreach on the ground of  The Church at Gateway. The program includes a full orchestral performance of favorites such as God Bless America,  sung by RCO fan favorite Alison Madill; Stars and Stripes Forever, God Bless the USA with some equally poignant songs performed by Pastor Timothy J. Mercaldo such as Bring him Home from Les Miserables.

Every so often, a show comes along that manages to surprise even the most unlikely of theatre-goers. Shows that seem geared towards a certain audience sometimes prove themselves able to entertain a vast array of tastes, more than they may have expected. This is the case of SOCIAL SECURITY at Oyster Mill Playhouse, a play aimed to tickle the funny bones of an older crowd that still succeeds in getting a laugh from all ages.

A series of tweets on the parody account @TheTweetofGod landed American comedy writer David Javerbaum a book deal. Eventually that book, The Last Testament: A Memoir By God, was adapted for the stage and renamed as An Act of God. The stage version premiered at Broadway's Studio 54 Theatre in 2015 with Big Bang Theory sitcom star Jim Parsons in the leading role. A second run featured Will & Grace's Sean Hayes in the leading role, and now the B Street Theatre will give the holy role to Nick Cearley (Buyer & Cellar).

Running through May 6, the raucous, downhome comedy features a cast of Nashville favorites including Tonya Pewitt, Memory Strong-Smith, Natalie Royal Herb, Jonathan Hunter, Benny Jones, Linda Speir, Drew Dunlop and Natalie Lewis.
