BWW INTERVIEWS: THE PHILANTHROPIST's Steven Weber
by Eddie Varley - Jun 9, 2009

There's something special about hearing the natural sound of human voices in the theater. They become a symphony of verbosity akin to a chamber ensemble performing in a first rate concert hall. There are nuances and colors that are to be detected without the aid of amplification. Such is the case with the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of THE PHILANTHROPIST which is currently on stage at the American Airlines Theatre.

Portland Center Revises 2009/2010 Season Lineup, THE CHOSEN Moves To Mainstage
by Gabrielle Sierra - May 15, 2009

Three studio titles will change and one production will move to the Main Stage in a major revision of the Portland Center Stage 2009/2010 season. Early strong seller The Chosen will move to the Main Stage, replacing Joe Turner's Come and Gone (which will be deferred to future season). In the studio, a possible Broadway tour causes our production of Thurgood Marshall to be postponed, and The Best So Far will be put on hold to give it a bit more gestation (and New York fundraising) time.

Photo Flash: THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA at the Guthrie
by Gabrielle Sierra - Jan 27, 2009

Lights! Camera! Acting! Shakespeare's romantic comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona receives a retro rendition by director Joe Dowling, as the story is 'taped' on the set of a '50s television studio in front of a live Guthrie audience. It's the same familiar story, an oldie but goddie, where four young lovers hit the road to romance and find their bonds of friendship are tested along the way. Don't miss the director's cut: a no holds 'bard' pop culture explosion of comedy, song and dance, showcasing the triumphs of young love, an adorable sidekick dog named Crab, and everything in between. Opening Night: January 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Closing: March 29, 2009 at 1 p.m. TICKETS: Single tickets priced at $24 - $60 opening night $49 - 70 Guthrie Box Office: 612.377.2224 Greater Minnesota: TOLL FREE 877.44.STAGE Box Office hours: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily Tickets may be purchased online at www.guthrietheater.org.

TV: When Lin-Manuel Met Nicholas 'IN THE HEIGHTS'
by Craig Brockman - Dec 5, 2008

A bright ray of light burst on the Great White Way this past week and gave us a wee bit of hope in this bleakest of seasons, no it wasn't a brand new Broadway bound hit, well not in the strictest sense, it was a young boy from New Orleans who dared to make his musical theatre dreams come true.
