STOMP has toured the globe almost continuously for 20 years, setting feet stamping, fingers drumming and adrenalin rushing for over 15 million people in 48 countries across 5 continents. It is currently playing in the UK, US, throughout Europe and South America.
From a single drum hanging around Luke Cresswells neck back in 1991, STOMP has taken on a life of its own. Creators and co-directors Cresswell and Steve McNicholas developed a pulsating, witty, utterly irresistible theatrical event that has become a worldwide phenomenon.

It has been over twenty years since STOMP opened in the UK. And while time tends to reveal imperfections, when STOMP performed at the Civic Center this past weekend it was proven that even in an era of big budget musical extravaganzas you simply need excellent performers and a fun idea to succeed and stand the test of time.
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and PNC Broadway Across America-Pittsburgh announce STOMP, the international sensation, is making its triumphant return to Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Avenue, tonight, October 30 through Sunday, November 4, 2012. The return of the percussive hit also brings some new surprises, with some sections of the show now updated and restructured and the addition of two new full-scale routines, utilizing props like tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans.
What kind of stage show do you get when you take random everyday objects--from plastic bags and basketballs, to brooms and garbage cans--and strike them every which way to create a symphony of percussion? Well, unless you've been buried under a giant scrap heap for the past few decades, then you'll no doubt know about (or at least have heard of) the show STOMP, that odd, hyper-kinetic novelty act that combines non-stop percussive beats with light choreography and G-rated humor. Its latest touring company is currently bringing in the noise--and, yep, the funk--to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa through October 14.
In this week's edition of Around BWW: Regional Highlights of the Week', we bring you the most-read stories for the week of October 8! From reviews to interviews, videos and photos, catch up on all the latest regional happenings around the Broadway World!
Segerstrom Center for the Arts and STOMP present a live performance for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children as well as hearing children at Taft Elementary. Students from third through sixth grade classes will assemble in the school's outdoor performance area and share in this exciting experience as STOMPers use this opportunity to showcase how vibrations create sound waves. As some deaf or hard of hearing students may not be able to hear all the sounds being created, they can feel the vibrations and rhythm. Following the performance, there will be a Q&A session with cast members from STOMP.

STOMP is a show unlike any other in the theatrical world. It features a cast of multi-talented performers from a variety of backgrounds, who use everyday objects such as brooms, paint cans, drumsticks, bins, and even tractor tire inner tubes to create music. I recently had the opportunity to speak with cast member Andres Fernandez. Mr. Fernandez, originally from Hawaii, has backgrounds in music and dance. In high school he played trombone, and later went on tour throughout Hawaii singing and dancing with his brother. He has now been a part of the STOMP cast for 15 years.
Multi-talented actress, singer, television host, playwright, songwriter and author Kathie Lee Gifford hosted this year's Broadway on Broadway yesterday morning, Sunday, September 9th, presented by United Airlines and The New York Times. The event kicked off the 2012-2013 Broadway season with star performances from new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 30-piece live orchestra directed by Alex Lacamoire. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you photos of all the casts in performance!
