Musical Momentum, a very unique benefit concert series, will present its second event, True Colors 2.0: A Benefit/Fundraiser for the Trevor Project at the Laurie Beechman Theater in New York on Sunday, July 29th. Musical Momentum kicked-off its new concert series with its inaugural event, True Colors: A Benefit/Fundraiser for the Trevor Project back in late April.

These initial two events, both benefiting The Trevor Project, are just the first in the planned Musical Momentum series of concerts, which will feature acclaimed Broadway/theatrical performers, top cabaret performers, including MAC Award winners and more, along with other emerging musical/theatrical artists, all performing live to raise money for various worthy charitable organizations throughout 2012-2013 and beyond. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

The July 29th True Colors 2.0: A Benefit/Fundraiser for the Trevor Project will feature many top Broadway/Off-Broadway performers including Angelica Page (The Best Man, August: Osage County), Johnny Stellard (Evita), and Marcia-ElizaBeth Thompson (STOMP), Ashley Flanagan (Prometheus Bound), Gretchen Garvin (Nat'l Tour: Annie Get Your Gun), Corey Loftus (Seussical Nat'l Tour) and Francesca McGrory (Freckleface).

Also on board for the July 29th line-up are cabaret performers Jason Morris, Julie Reyburn (4-Time MAC Award winner, 2 time Bistro Award winner, Julie Wilson Award winner), Tanya Holt, singer/songwriters Elena Giordano, Chris Keller, and Grace McLean and 6-Time MAC Award and Bistro Award winner Tracy Stark, who is also serving as the evening’s Musical Director. Additional performers for the July 29th event will be announced shortly.

As an added bonus, Broadway Baubles has just teamed up long-term with Musical Momentum. Baubles, worn by theater/film/television actresses Kristin Chenoweth and Sarah Jessica Parker, were also recently featured on Martha Steward Living. Founder Laura K. Schutter (Mary Poppins) will be creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry especially for the True Colors 2.0: A Benefit/Fundraiser for the Trevor Project event, and will create a new piece for each future Musical Momentum cause. These pieces will be sold at the concerts, as well as online at the Baubles and MM websites, with 50% of all proceeds being donated to the charity they were fashioned to represent.

The Musical Momentum series, which has recently joined the ranks of being one of the most highly regarded fundraising outfits in the New York arts community, has a long term commitment to raising money for worthy causes and building a higher profile. The MM concert series is being produced by actress/performer/director Angelica Page and performer Jason Morris, in association with producer Barbara Ligeti. Musical Momentum founder Jason Morris explains that “Musical Momentum looks to work in conjunction with charitable organizations that promote healthy and positive self-image, individual empowerment, and appreciation for personal freedoms - by providing social/educational tools, crisis intervention, and resources working to end violence towards self or others. What better way to raise money for so many wonderful causes and charities than through music and performing !

In 2012 Musical Momentum is hosting concerts for the Trevor Project (the leading LGBT teen suicide resource) and P.A.V.E. (victim empowerment and awareness about sexual violence), with plans already underway to work with charities including ItGetsBetter (messages of solidarity and support for youth), Do Something (Anti-Bullying), and Break the Cycle (empowering youth to end domestic violence) in 2013.

The first True Colors benefit for The Trevor Project featured performances by many top theater and cabaret stars, including actress/singer Angelica Page, Brent Barrett (Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago), Corey Loftus, Francesca McGrory, Johnny Stellard (Evita, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) and Tracy Stark. Other event highlights were an appearance by James Lecesne, co-founder of The Trevor Project & the screenwriter of the Trevor film, and a surprise guest performance by singer/actor Jeremiah James.
