Burning Coal Announces 2020/21 Season

Burning Coal Theatre Company has announced its 2020 - 2021 season. This season will include A Hundred Words for Snow by Tatty Hennessy (October 8 a?" 25, 2020), Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber (December 3 a?" 20, 2020), Fifth of July by Lanford Wilson (January 28 a?" February 14, 2021), and Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov (April 8 a?" 25, 2021).

Cast Announced For Bay Area Musicals' A CHORUS LINE

Bay Area Musicals has announced the full cast and creative team for the Company's penultimate 2019-2020 production, the game-changing Broadway masterpiece A CHORUS LINE. Winner of nine 1976 Tony Awards® (including a?oeBest Musicala??) and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, A CHORUS LINE features music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and a book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante. A CHORUS LINE was conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett. Bay Area Musicals' production of A CHORUS LINE runs from April 11 a?" May 10, 2020 and will perform at San Francisco's Alcazar Theatre (650 Geary St, San Francisco, CA 94102). The press opening will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. Regular tickets range from $35 - $85 and can be purchased online at www.bamsf.org/a-chorus-line. Opening Night Fundraiser Tickets (available only for the Saturday, April 11 performance at 8:00 p.m.) range from $50 - $100 and include dessert and a champagne toast with the cast (and can also be purchased online at www.bamsf.org/a-chorus-line).

Colorado Music Festival Announces 2020 Summer Season

The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) in Boulder, Colorado, isn't broadly known outside the state, but it should be. This summer, under the leadership of the recently arrived Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Festival will actually present more 21st-century pieces (16, including two world premieres) than works by Beethoven (13). That reflects Oundjian's commitment to presenting the work of living composers as well as music by masters of the canon. This is the first year of the Festival's five-year commitment to commissioning new works and presenting them in Boulder.

American Symphony Orchestra comes to Alice Tully Hall for the holiday season with a concert titled Sons of Bach on Thursday, December 19 at 8 PM. If I was to have to find one flaw in the ROCKY HORROR SHOW, now playing at the Louis Curtiss Studio Building in Kansas City (formerly Prohibition Hall), it is that I only get to review it once this run. Seeing so many shows each year it is seldom that one comes along that makes me want to see it again. The ROCKY HORROR SHOW by Padgett Productions is definitely one of those shows I could see over and over. Audience participation isn't required but is highly encouraged.

The Orchestra Now (TŌN), the visionary orchestra and master's degree program founded by Bard College president, conductor, educator, and music historian Leon Botstein, begins its fifth season on September 14, 2019. Five different series and three special events will offer 19 diverse programs and 31 performances presenting novel combinations of both time-honored and lesser-known repertoire through May 17, 2020. Since the Orchestra's launch in 2015, the young members of TŌN have performed 261 works by 137 composers for more than 50,000 people in 23 venues, with 158 soloists and 15 conductors.

American Symphony Orchestra Announces Expanded 2019-20 Season

American Symphony Orchestra announced the 58th season of its three-concert Vanguard series at Carnegie Hall, now expanded to include an additional performance at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. The season also marks the return of the Orchestra's popular series to New York City's Symphony Space-which originally took place between 1998 and 2015-with a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in conjunction with the ASO's celebration of the great composer's 250th birthday. This series combines complete concerts of well-known, major orchestral works with interactive educational demonstrations. The full 2019-20 season runs from October 31, 2019 through March 12, 2020.

The Orchestra Now Offers Free Concert At Symphony Space

The Orchestra Now (T?N) kicks off 2019 with a free concert led by resident conductor Zachary Schwartzman at Peter Norton Symphony Space on Sunday, January 27. The program features Ravel's arrangement of the ten musical illustrations of Viktor Hartmann's artwork that comprise Mussorgsky's well-known and powerful Pictures at an Exhibition in addition to Ravel's own ominous La valse. Other works include Russian composer Anatoly Lyadov's gentle and colorful fantasy, The Enchanted Lake, in addition to Stravinsky's lush and fantastical Firebird Suite.
