THE RUFFIAN ON THE STAIR Extends By Popular Demand

The critically acclaimed 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival production of Joe Orton's The Ruffian on the Stair has been extended for 10 performances only, it was announced today by Hicks Street Productions. Under the direction of Mark Kemble, the cast features (in alphabetical order) Sile Bermingham, Reed Michael Campbell, and Brian Foyster.

This summer, Sierra Stages brings the legendary musical "Cabaret" to Nevada City with an all-local Nevada County production playing from July 11 through August 3 at the historic Nevada Theatre. With a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, this musical masterpiece marks the 11th annual summer musical presented by Sierra Stages. "Cabaret" is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.

Joe Orton's The Ruffian on the Stair is set for four performances only in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival, it was announced today by Hicks Street Productions. Under the direction of Mark Kemble, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) S le Bermingham, Reed Michael Campbell, and Brian Foyster. Lighting design is by Matt Richter. The performance dates and times are Sunday 6/9 at 4pm; Thursday 6/13 at 8:30pm; Friday 6/21 at 6:30pm; and Saturday 6/22 at 8pm. Running time will be 60 minutes.

Today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, PBS announced KEN BURNS PRESENTS THE GENE: AN INTIMATE HISTORY, a new three-hour documentary executive produced by Ken Burns, will premiere over three nights in Spring 2020 on PBS. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Siddhartha Mukherjee, M.D., and acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns will collaborate on the new documentary inspired by Mukherjee's best-selling 2016 book, The Gene: An Intimate History. Award-winning filmmaker Barak Goodman will produce and, in addition to Burns and Goodman, the film will largely have the same production team behind the Emmy Award-nominated CANCER: THE EMPEROR OF ALL MALADIES, an adaption of Mukherjee's earlier 2010 book that aired in 2015 on PBS.

The Old Globe's 2017-2018 Season continues with today's announcement of the complete cast and creative team for the Southern California debut of A Thousand Splendid Suns, Ursula Rani Sarma's sweeping and deeply moving theatrical production based on the best-selling book by Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner). Directed by Carey Perloff and presented in association with American Conservatory Theater, A Thousand Splendid Suns will run May 12 - June 17, 2018 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage, Old Globe Theatre, Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run May 12-16. Opening night is Thursday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m.
