The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced their Spring season of digital offerings from April 1 to July 1, which is dedicated to the late Gustave M. Hauser.  CMS presents 28 digital programs, with concerts premiering on Thursday evenings at 7:30 and educational and hybrid talk-and-performance programs premiering on Monday evenings.

Galvanized by 2020’s protests against racism and police brutality, Opera Philadelphia Composer in Residence Tyshawn Sorey began writing new works for voice about race in America, to serve as an extension of, and in some ways a departure from, Cycles of My Being, his 2018 song cycle exploring the realities of life as a Black man in America today.

 In order to continue its strong feminist story-telling tradition, Artemisia Theatre has announced an entirely virtual 2021 season. The new season includes two World Premiere theater productions and eight audio performances airing on its podcast We Women.

J.M. Barrie’s 1911 novel about the boy who never grew up is often staged around this time of year. However, a show about a rabble of “lost boys” would prove challenging to produce in the current circumstances. The Barn Theatre has found a way around this.

Opera Philadelphia Composer in Residence Tyshawn Sorey, the Newark-born multi-instrumentalist and composer celebrated for his incomparable virtuosity, will premiere a new work on the Opera Philadelphia Channel inspired by “Save the Boys,” an 1887 poem by abolitionist, writer, and Black women's rights activist Frances Ellen Watkins Harper (1825-1911).

Free digital tickets are now available for The Anonymous Lover which premieres online Saturday, November 14, at 5 PM Pacific Time. The Anonymous Lover is a 1780 comic romance by pioneering Black composer Joseph Bologne, known as the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Conducted by Music Director James Conlon and directed by Bruce Lemon, Jr. 

CLI Studios, founded by Emmy nominated choreographers Teddy Forance and Allison Holker, and choreographer, dancer and producer, Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, will present their first-ever virtual performance, 'A New Stage,' curated and starring renowned New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, Tiler Peck.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer), New York City's award-winning pioneer in diversity and multi-ethnic casting in the performing arts since 1968, will celebrate its 51st Anniversary at its annual Gala Benefit Concert on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the The Baruch Performing Arts Center (East 25th Street - between Lexington & Third Avenues, NYC). Honorary Chair for the event is Grammy Award-winning Latin recording artist and activist Rubén Blades. Tony Award-winner Priscilla Lopez will be Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.

For those of us who have visited Ireland and basked in the bountiful love and generosity of its people, the plays of its most famous authors are striking in contrast. There are no strangers when one visits the Emerald Isle. However, the plays of Brian Friel, Sean O'Casey and John Millington Synge are rife with meditation, mourning and melancholy. (The latter author's 'Playboy of the Western Worlda?? caused riots in Dublin when initially staged in 1907. When the actors came to America in 1911, they were jailed).

This spring, Stanford Live presents the world premiere of Scott Joplin's Treemonisha, a 21st-century reimagining of the sole surviving opera by the a?oeKing of Ragtimea?? (April 23a?"26). Produced by Canada's Volcano Theatre, in association with Moveable Beast, and led by a predominantly Black, female creative team, the new work combines original source material from Treemonisha (c. 1911), Joplin's visionary tale of community and female leadership, with a new story and libretto by playwright and broadcaster Leah-Simone Bowen, working with co-librettist Cheryl L. Davis, and expanded musical arrangements and new orchestrations by composers Jessie Montgomery and Jannina Norpoth. In the title role, soprano Neema Bickersteth a?" a?oean incredible performera?? (The Guardian) whose a?oegalvanic voice outshines anything else onstagea?? (Vancouver Observer) a?" heads an all-Black cast, with an all-Black majority-female, nine-piece orchestra performing on Western and African instruments, under the award-winning stage direction of Weyni Mengesha, and conducted by Jeri Lynne Johnson.

Vancouver Art Gallery presents Rapture, Rhythm and the Tree Of Life - Emily Carr and Her Female Contemporaries from December 7, 2019 to June 28, 2020. Emily Carr (1871-1945) is an iconic Canadian artist who is widely recognized for her paintings of the forested landscapes of British Columbia that evoke the possibility for transcending the material world through the colour, shapes and rhythms of nature. Drawn primarily from the Gallery's permanent collection, this exhibition features a number of Carr's paintings of forest interiors-environments that she often described in her journals as offering an almost rapturous connection to the divine.

Mint Theater Company Producing Artistic Director Jonathan Bank today announced the first cast member for the World Premiere pairing of Chekhov/Tolstoy: Love Stories, a program of short plays adapted from stories by two of the world's greatest authors, Anton Chekhov and Leo Tolstoy adapted for the stage by Miles Malleson (Conflict, Yours Unfaithfully).

Mint Theater Company Producing Artistic Director Jonathan Bank today announced that before Mint presets the World Premiere pairing of Chekhov/Tolstoy: Love Stories, adapted for the stage by Miles Malleson (playwright of the acclaimed Mint productions Conflict and Yours Unfaithfully), Mint will present a staged reading of Malleson's first full-length play Youth, for one night only on Monday October 28th at 7:30pm at Theater Row (410 West 42nd Street between 9th and Dyer Avenues). Matt Dickson directs a cast featuring Kate Abruzzese, Donald Corren, Margaret Daly, Christian DeMarais, Andrew Fallaize, Michael Frederic, Alex Mandell, Brenda Meaney, Ned Noyes, and Tommy Schrider.

Mint Theater Company Producing Artistic Director Jonathan Bank today announced the World Premiere pairing of Chekhov/Tolstoy: Love Stories, adapted for the stage by Miles Malleson (Conflict, Yours Unfaithfully), directed by Jonathan Bank & Jane Shaw. Performances will begin January 23rd and continue through March 14th only at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Opening Night is set for February 10th. Cast will be announced shortly.

The New York Philharmonic and Music Director Jaap van Zweden's World Premiere performances of Julia Wolfe's Fire in my mouth will be released in digital formats on August 30, 2019, and in physical format on October 4, 2019, on Decca Gold, Universal Music Group's newly established US classical music label. BorderLight International Theatre + Fringe Festival and Burning Coal Theatre Company will present Peter Pan and Wendy in Cleveland this summer. The original adaptation, created by director Lillian White in collaboration with the ensemble, is based on J.M. Barrie's beloved novel and premiered in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2017. Showtimes are July 26th at 7:30 pm and July 27th at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm at the Old Stone Church (Memorial Hall) in Cleveland's Public Square. Tickets can be purchased for the individual shows for $12, or with a "Binge-on-Fringe!" discount pass of four ($40) or eight ($70) tickets. BorderLight International Theatre + Fringe Festival is a new festival of contemporary theatre featuring 100 theatrical performances by companies from around the world. Grammy Award-winning American organist Paul Jacobs-deemed 'a grand New York institution' by James R. Oestreich of The New York Times (February 18, 2018)- will launch the fall season by highlighting the organ on the New York concert scene, performing in a three-recital series for solo organ in September 2019. Although months in the planning, these French programs assumed new meaning the night of April 15 to 16, 2019, when the Grand Organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral survived the devastating inferno in Paris.
