“Dancing with the Stars” is waltzing its way into its upcoming season, and the new celebrity cast is adding some glitzy bling to their wardrobe, breaking in their dancing shoes and readying themselves for their first dance on the ballroom floor, as the season kicks off MONDAY, SEPT. 24 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand. This season's lineup of celebrity dancers includes an “American Idol” mentor, the first-ever blind contestant to take part in the show, an alumnus from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a Duke of Hazzard, an Olympic Gold medal-winning gymnast and a Bachelor Nation favorite, among others.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the recent Off-Broadway hit, 'The Understudy,' a backstage comedy about a Hollywood action star rehearsing for a role on Broadway amid tensions with his understudy.  The cast includes Eric Bryant, Connecticut Critics Circle Award winner; Brett Dalton of ABC's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'; and Andrea Syglowski, award-winning actress. Running August 14 through September 1, the comedy is written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of NBC's show business drama, 'Smash,' and directed by David Kennedy, Westport Country Playhouse associate artistic director.

Today, New Orleans Theatre Association and Broadway in New Orleans announced a new three-year agreement with Hancock Whitney beginning with the 2018-2019 season. The partnership furthers Hancock Whitney's long-standing investment in New Orleanians' cultural experience by continuing to bring the best Broadway performances to the Crescent City.

Six-Time Tony Award Winning Costume Designer William Ivey Long is a busy man. He's not only working on five shows simultaneously, including the movie-to-Broadway musicals of 'Beetlejuice' and 'Tootsie' but he is also celebrating the publication of two books. books. The first accompanies The Mint Museum exhibition, William Ivey Long: Costume Designs 2007-2016, which runs through June 3rd in Charlotte, North Carolina. The second, The Designs of William Ivey Long, is a monograph by Bobbi Owen, chronicling Long's career over 350 shows. Next week, Long and Owen will be stopping by The North Carolina Museum of History to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The North Carolina Arts Council. They spoke to me to discuss Owen's book, Long's North Carolina roots and designing with improbable fabrics.

Rooftop Films is proud to announce our feature film slate for the 2018 Rooftop Films Summer Series, presented by SundanceTV. The New York Philharmonic announces program updates for its Lunar New Year Concert and Gala, led by Long Yu, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature Andy Akiho's Ricochet, Concerto for Ping Pong, Violin, Percussion, and Orchestra, featuring Philharmonic violinist Elizabeth Zeltser (in her Philharmonic solo debut), ping pong players Ariel Hsing and Michael Landers (Philharmonic debuts), and percussionist David Cossin (Philharmonic debut). As previously announced, the program will also include Li Huanzhi's Spring Festival Overture and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, with pianist Serena Wang, the Farmers' Chorus of the Yunnan Province, soprano Vanessa Vasquez, tenors Chad Johnson and Issachah Savage, and bass Alex Rosen, all in their Philharmonic debuts (the additional soprano and mezzo-soprano will be announced at a later date).
