Barrington Stage Company has announced casting for the first two shows of its 2022 season: the 1978 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Ain’t Misbehavin’: The Fats Waller Musical Show, and the world premiere play, Andy Warhol in Iran by Brent Askari (BSC’s American Underground) which opens the St. Germain Stage from June 2-25.

Barrington Stage Company will produce a 2022 season that will feature two Tony Award-winning musicals, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, four world premieres and one of the true absurdist masterpieces of 20th century theatre.

American Idol's Ruben Studdard pays tribute to the legendary Luther Vandross in Ruben Sings Luther - Always & Forever at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on Valentine's Eve Sunday, February 13 at 7pm.

Thom Schilling, the general manager, production supervisor and stage manager for dozens of Broadway, Off-Broadway and global tours for over 40 years, died in his sleep on August 19 in New York City. The cause of death is not presently known. Born in 1956, Thom was 64 years old.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for the Bay Area premiere of Groundhog Day the Musical, the hit Broadway comedy adapted from the timeless Bill Murray film. Danny Rubin, co-writer of the 1993 film, wrote the book, with music and lyrics supplied by Tony-winner Tim Minchin (Matilda). Susi Damilano will direct the Playhouse production, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Nicole Helfer.

Firehouse Theatre welcomes Frenchie Davis to the cast of its upcoming workshop of JC Gonzalez's new pop/rock opera WARM that will perform at the Dominion Energy Center's Gottwald Playhouse for three performances only beginning Friday, September 20, 2019.

Porchlight Music Theatre's 25th anniversary season began with the 14th Annual Chicago Sings concert: Chicago Sings 25 Years of Porchlight, Monday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m., at The Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave, directed by Christopher Pazdernik and Artistic Director Michael Weber with music direction by David Fiorello and a band featuring Kelsey Boltz, Cara Hartz, John McCreary, Greg Strauss, Celeste Park and Jake Saleh.

Audiences are getting ready to head to Skid Row this fall! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's classic sci-fi musical Little Shop of Horrors is returning to New York at the Westside Theatre, with previews beginning September 17th and opening night set for October 17th. The production is set to run for a limited engagement through November 24th. Grammy-nominated singer and American Idol winner Ruben Studdard pays tribute to the remarkable talent of Luther Vandross as part of a special concert event coming to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu on Saturday, September 14 at 8 p.m. at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts.
