Kent Tritle begins the new decade with his first organ recital at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in two years, Bach's St. John Passion with the Cathedral Choir, and both a new edition of Brahms's A German Requiem and the world premiere of A Nation of Others, an oratorio about Ellis Island with music by Paul Moravec and libretto by Mark Campbell, with the Oratorio Society of New York.

BMG and Niji Entertainment Group Inc. have partnered to reissue DIO's 1996 - 2004 studio albums: Angry Machines (1996), Magica (2000), Killing The Dragon (2002), and Master Of The Moon (2004). These newly remastered versions feature rare and never before released live and studio bonus tracks, and were remastered by longtime DIO collaborator Wyn Davis with updated artwork from frequent DIO designer Marc Sasso.

Last week the book 'Me' was released by the legend Elton John and it got me thinking about Elton's contribution to musical theatre. His music and his generous personality have touched millions. His musical fantasy movie Rocketman, that came out earlier this year, based on his life is one of the greatest, in my opinion, films ever made. He has such a passion and love for everything he does and what he has given the magical world of musical theatre is just as extraordinary.

5th Wall Theatre's season opener has the feel of a typical book-club book: interesting, bringing light to a lesser-known historical moment, good for you but not actually good.

The cast of characters in Sarah Ruhl's THE CLEAN HOUSE, which opens the 2019-2020 Portland Stage season, leads anything but tidy lives. The 2004 play, which received its world premiere at the Yale Repertory Theatre, is a metaphorically absurdist exploration of neuroses, obsessions, and the quest for laughter and love. The drama which employs a kind of a?oemagical realisma?? brings together five quirky characters who only find their humanity as their neat little lives unravel and they allow chaos, passion, empathy, laughter, and tears to fill their souls.

Fashions in love (and lovers) swing as wildly as hemlines between the centuries. Massenet's Werther a?' brooding, poetic, Romantic to a fault a?' is pure 19th century, his heart beating to the fluttering pulse of lyric couplets. He translates poorly into today's more pragmatic world, but thanks to Charles Edwards' handsome designs his ill-fated passion for married Charlotte returns to the Royal Opera with plenty of nostalgic appeal.

The Palace Theater is observing its 15th performance season this year since re-opening in 2004 and the programming reflects this milestone worthy of celebration.

Today, concert discovery platform Bandsintown announced the acquisition of Hypebot.com and MusicThinkTank.com, leading artist centric and technology news outlets founded in 2004 by music industry veteran Bruce Houghton. The acquisition expands upon Bandsintown's mission to help musicians grow their careers by offering free tools to over 500,000 registered artists while simultaneously providing a platform for fans and artists to connect. 

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents The Tetzlaff Trio performing Schumann's consummate Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 63, paired with Dvo k's remarkable masterpiece Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65, on Friday, April 26, 2019, 7:30 pm, at The Wallis' Bram Goldsmith Theater. The trio, featuring siblings Christian Tetzlaff, violin, and Tanja Tetzlaff, cello, and Lars Vogt, piano, are touring North America for the first time in three years. The National Ballet of Canada mourns the passing of Board Member, volunteer, philanthropist and friend Sandra Faire. A trailblazer and legend in the ballet and greater dance community, Ms. Faire possessed an inspiring vision, passion and determination in all that she did.

From Thursday, February 14 through Thursday, February 21, BAM presents Programmers' Notebook: On Love, the first in a new recurring series in which BAM's film programming team responds to a thought-provoking theme. This wide-ranging survey presents some of cinema's most perceptive portraits of this fundamental emotion in all of its disparate forms-romantic, familial, fraternal, self-love, love of nature, love as passion, love as pain, and everything in between.

Brilliant writers, tribunes of the working class and icons of the lost world of newspapering, Jimmy Breslin and his friend Pete Hamill personified New York City. For five decades, these colorful columnists spoke for ordinary people and brought passion, wit and literary merit to their reporting on their city and nation. Their writings probed issues of race, class and the practice of journalism that resonate powerfully today.

On January 13, 17 and 19 Franz Welser-Most and The Cleveland Orchestra continue an ongoing commitment to present opera at Severance Hall with a made-for-Cleveland production of Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos which is being performed for the first time in the Orchestra's history. In his years as music director, Welser-Most has led The Cleveland Orchestra in performances of many orchestral works by Richard Strauss, as well as presentations of four other Strauss operas: Elektra (2004), Der Rosenkavalier (2007), Salome (2012), and Daphne (2015).

ProArteDanza has been dazzling Canadian audiences with its signature, full-throttle physicality and emotionally resonant contemporary ballet performances since 2004. Season 2018 features the world premiere of Figaro 2.0, a full-evening dance work co-choreographed by the company's award-winning duo: Artistic Director Roberto Campanella and Artistic Associate Robert Glumbek.
