Jacob's Pillow announces the full season lineup of Festival 2019 including world premieres, new commissions, international artists, anniversary celebrations, Pillow-exclusive engagements, and work developed at the Pillow Lab. TimeLine Theatre Company announces its inaugural "FIRST DRAFT: A TimeLine Playwrights Collective Festival,' the culmination of the company's latest two-year new-play incubator program offering residency to Chicago-based emerging and established writers. Canadian Brass are the grand masters of the holidays, crisscrossing the globe every December, bringing their hallmark gifts of virtuosity and old-fashioned fun. On Tuesday, December 11 at 8:00pm, they come to the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya). Beginning in 1970, Canadian Brass rescued these sometimes-overlooked instruments and placed them center stage. The evening begins after parking in a Bank of America lot a few blocks away from the party house where Connie (Ashley Jones, decked out in high-waisted bell bottom jeans), the sister of our party host, Sharon (Katie Rediger), meets us and goes over a few rules for the evening before escorting us to the party. Just prior to entering, each guest is given an ERA YES badge, every one different in color with an animal sticker in its center. Of course, there is a purpose which soon becomes apparent once the party begins.
Roy Clark, the legendary 'superpicker', GRAMMY, CMA and ACMaward winner, Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member and co-host of the famed 'Hee Haw' television series, died today at the age of 85 due to complications from pneumonia at home in Tulsa, Okla.

DeEtta West is featured in the role of Idella Landy in the production of Purlie, opening at the Orange Box Theater on September 29. DeEtta accepted the role as a personal tribute to her late brother, Cleavon Little, winner of the Tony Award in 1970 for his performance as Purlie in the hit show. Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema announced today its film lineup of 110 films and the news that Regal Entertainment Group has signed on to become the lead sponsor for the 2nd annual 10-day event in Queens. While the festival organizers are saddened to leave the Kew Gardens Cinemas in Kew Gardens, they are very excited for what this means for the future of the film festival. For it's sophomore year, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema will be moving into its new home at Regal Entertainment Group's UA Midway Stadium 9 in Forest Hills, Queens. From August 3rd to August 11th guests can enjoy films exhibited by state of the art projection and sound equipment in the comfort of Midway's recliner seats. The Opening Night Film at the Midway will be the New York Premiere of Ari Gold's award-winning and critically acclaimed “The Song of Sway Lake” starring Rory Culkin on Friday, Aug. 3rd at 6:30pm. On Sunday, August 12th, the festival's Awards Dinner Gala returns to Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
The classic Musical 'Mame' opened the 2018 season last night at NSMT. The Musical by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, with Lyrics by Jerry Herman, and based on the book by Patrick Dennis, is a 1966 Musical Theatre warhorse that has starred such luminaries as, Rosalind Russell, Angela Landsbury, and even Lucille Ball, in the ill-fated 1970's movie.
Telemundo Deportes, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, today announced its team of commentators and analysts for this summer's tournament taking place June 14 - July 15. July 28, 1968 was one of those perfect English summer dayswhen British photographer, Tom Murray, photographed the famed rock and roll group. The shoot was done on the run (literally) all over London in order to escape the hordes of screaming Beatles fans that followed them everywhere. Rushing from location to location inspired the name of the famous collection: The Mad Day: Summer of '68.These images would become the LAST publicity shoot of all four Beatles together– and represent the quintessential Beatles at the height of their psychedelic period and are considered the most important color photographs of the group. The Beatles officially disbanded in 1970.
