NY Botanical Garden Presents 'Hirschfeld's Broadway Scrapbook,' Ends 4/25

From March 5 through April 25, 2011, The New York Botanical Garden 9th Annual Orchid Exhibition, 'The Orchid Show: On Broadway,' will present the work of Al Hirschfeld in 'Hirschfeld's Broadway Scrapbook.' Just across the Garden's ground in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library's Rondina and LoFaro Gallery, the complementary exhibition will feature more than 30 drawings, as well as posters, programs, and sketchbooks from the Al Hirschfeld Foundation that tell the history of the Great White Way as seen by its foremost chronicler.

Production begins April 27 in Chicago on 'Boss,' an original dramatic series from STARZ and Lionsgate Television, starring TV icon Kelsey Grammer and with its first episode directed by acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant in his TV helming debut. The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) announced today that it will host a memorial to honor the memory of famed costume designer and friend Theoni V. Aldredge. The legendary designer, who passed away on January 21, 2011, will be remembered in a memorial on Monday, May 9 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at The Public Theater. The memorial will be in the Newman Theater and is free and open to the general public

Paladin Releases Malcolm Mowbray Film, 'Meeting Spencer'

Paladin will release Malcolm Mowbray's new comedy, 'Meeting Spencer', starring renowned character actor Jeffrey Tambor this spring, it was announced by company president Mark Urman. Produced by George Braunstein, the film is a sophisticated farce set in the world of theater and represents a rare starring role for Tambor, best known-and-loved as the dad in the acclaimed television series, 'Arrested Development,' and for key supporting roles in a number of motion pictures including the recent smash, 'The Hangover.' The film will open in New York on April 8, not long after Tambor assumes one of the two leading roles in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES alongside the legendary show's co-creator Harvey Fierstein.
