With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways. THE BAND'S VISIT celebrates the deeply human ways music, longing and laughter can connect us all.

BWW Review: ORLANDO: A Revolutionary, Radical New Opera Blends Art With Activism at Vienna State Opera
by Cindy Sibilsky - Dec 31, 2019

Orlando was a deeply engaging, intriguing and thought-provoking exploration whose pondering, messages, striking soundscapes and visuals reverberated and lingered long after the curtain had closed. It is a highly ambitious undertaking but Neuwirth and her colleagues were up for the challenge. What is most exciting is what has now been established for a venue such as The Wiener Straatsoper as we move into a new decade of uncertain times when it is vital that radical expressions of art and activism combined are given such a grand stage with which to proclaim their truths.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at The Kennedy Center " A Magical Musical Full of Heart
by Charles Shubow - Jul 16, 2019

I really enjoyed the Eran Kolirin's 2007 Israeli-Egyptian film 'The Band's Visit' . The story involved the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra who get lost in Israel on their way to a concert performance at the Arab Cultural Center in a large city named Petal Tikvah and instead the bus they take arrives at the small town of Bet Hatikva. With the next bus not due until the next day, the musicians are invited to spend the night with the town natives (there is no hotel) and have dinner. The moving film tackles the subject of Egyptians and Israelis in 1996 who in 1967 had a hard-fought war on the Sinai Peninsula.

BWW Review: LEGALLY BLONDE at Paramount Theatre
by Emily McClanathan - Sep 9, 2018

Paramount Theatre's production of LEGALLY BLONDE-THE MUSICAL lands the familiar tale of sorority-girl-turned-lawyer Elle Woods firmly in 2018, and it works well. Based on the 2001 movie, the musical premiered on Broadway in 2007, and, unlike some stage adaptations of beloved chick flicks, still resonates in today's post-Weinstein world. A strong female protagonist, working hard to achieve her goals, leaves behind toxic relationships and surrounds herself with people who believe in building each other up. While the narrative is empowering, LEGALLY BLONDE never lets the tone get too serious, with plenty of humor, larger-than-life characters, impressive dance numbers, and all the glitz, glam, and 'Omigod's that one would expect from the women of UCLA's Delta Nu.

Rebecca & Fiona's New Album ART OF BEING A GIRL Streaming In Full w/ Dancing Astronaut
by Tori Hartshorn - Sep 6, 2018

Female Swedish pop-DJ duo Rebecca & Fiona are preparing to release their new album Art Of Being A Girl this Friday, September 7th. In anticipation, today the album is available to stream in full via Dancing Astronaut ahead of its release. About the LP, the girls comment: 'This album means everything to us, it is to be considered a work of art. It is our heart. Breaking up and leaving everything behind is hard but from hardship comes great art, and we hope that this is the case with our new album. We stay hardcore. We stay artcore. Finishing this album has been a great challenge for us, maybe the biggest for us so far, as producers. But we are very happy and pleased and PROUD.'
