Hot off the press! As BroadwayWorld reported exclusively in July, Newsies is coming to the big screen! Disney Theatrical Productions and Fathom Events announced today that the Tony Award-winning musical NEWSIES will make its worldwide cinema debut on February 16, 18 and 22, 2017, starring Jeremy Jordan, reprising his Tony Award-nominated performance as 'Jack Kelly.'

This notion is the driving force behind Fiction, a mind-bending work by PEN U.S.A. Canada-China Cultural Development Association (CCCDA) presents Beijing People's Art Theatre in Lao She'sTeahouse - an epic drama of Chinese culture, history, and politics, November 10 & 11 at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts (777 Homer Street). The signature work from one of China's national theatre companies, the play follows 50-years of turbulent history - from the fall of the Qing Empire in 1898 to the defeat of the Kuomingtang in 1948 - as witnessed within the walls of a Beijing teahouse.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK (July 25, 2016)—Conducted by Semyon Bychkov in May 2016, the 13th annual Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn will be released on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital platforms by Sony Classical on August 12 and broadcast on PBS's Great Performances on Today, September 30 at 9 p.m. (check local listings.). The Summer Night Concerts are presented free each year in the gardens of Vienna's Imperial Schönbrunn Palace, and Mr. Bychkov—conducting the event for the first time—led the Vienna Philharmonic in front of its largest Summer Night Concert audience ever (102,000 spectators). The performance reached an additional 585,000 people through TV and radio, having been broadcast by 83 stations on five continents.

Casting has been announced for the Charlotte engagement of Disney's  NEWSIES.   The Tony® Award-winning production will begin performances at Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, August 9 for a limited engagement through Sunday, August 14. 

Broadway In Chicago is pleased to announce casting for the Chicago engagement of Disney's NEWSIES. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W Randolph) on Thursday, July 28 for a limited engagement through Sunday, August 7.

The touring cast of Newsies will perform the song 'Santa Fe' live from Santa Fe, NM on Monday, June 20. The event will be streamed to Disney's Facebook page beginning at 1 PM EST and will last approximately 20 minutes, according to Variety.

The Community College of Baltimore County and Maryland Humanities are teaming up again to bring Chautauqua 2016 to the Baltimore metropolitan region. The three-evening event, 'Masters of Their Craft,' will be held at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Theatre at CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road and will feature a different Pulitzer Prize recipient each evening. Chautauqua 2016 at CCBC Catonsville is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is necessary.
