Each year, Sierra Madre Playhouse presents a show especially for young audiences. In 2019, the show is Stuart Little, innovatively staged with puppets, projections and original music. Performances for school field trips start on March 11 with over 3000 tickets sold, but the Playhouse will present a limited number of performances to the general public as well, with an official public opening on March 16. The play is ideal for audience members aged 4 to 10, but their entire families can enjoy it as well.

Vilna, a new play by Ira Fuchs directed by Joseph Discher, will begin its limited Off-Broadway World Premiere engagement at the Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues) tonight Monday March 11th. Opening Night is set for Wednesday March 20th (7pm). This limited Off-Broadway engagement will continue through Sunday April 14th only.

This past Saturday an impromptu performance at the Huntington Mall began with a shout known to all musical lovers:
'Pulitzer and Hearst, they think we're nothing' Are we nothing'?'
To which an excited mob of newsies replied tenaciously, 'No!'
Audiences were then treated to an impressive flash mob rendition of 'The World Will Know' during a lull in the Macy's Prom Fashion Event. After this commanding performance, there's no doubt in anybody's mind just how great First Stage Theatre Company's production of Newsies will be.

Venetia Stifler, executive and artistic director of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts and the 2019 Ruth Page Award Committee are pleased to announce their selections for this year's Ruth Page Awards. The recipients include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and its Artistic Director Robert Battle and Chicago Dance History Project and its Executive and Artistic Director Jenai Cutcher. The 2019 Awards will be presented immediately before Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's performance celebrating 60 years of Ailey Ascending and the 50th anniversary of the Company's first performance at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Ida B. Wells Dr., Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the 2019 Ruth Page Awards are $60 and include a private reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Ailey performance at 7:30 p.m. This performance is part of Ravinia's annual Ruth Page Festival of Dance. Geffen Playhouse today announced eight productions that will make up its 2019/2020 season, with one additional production to be announced. This marks the second lineup curated by Artistic Director Matt Shakman and the 24th season for the Los Angeles theater. The season will launch Tuesday, August 20, 2019 and run through Sunday, July 19, 2020.

California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) students are sure to capture hearts with the impressive dance feats and Tony Award-winning music of this year's highly anticipated all-school musical, "Newsies." Bringing to life the rough-and-tumble world of New York City during the 1899 Newsboy Strike, the show tells an inspiring story of friendship, hope and strength in numbers. One of them, Jack Kelly, dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. When newspaper owners raise distribution prices at the newsies' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and leads a young army toward responsibility in a combination of jaunty tunes and high-kicking, musical numbers.
