The Company Theatre Announces 2019 Season: A CHORUS LINE, EVITA and More

The award-winning Company Theatre (TCT), continues its 40th anniversary celebration by announcing its 2019 theatrical performance season, featuring the finest productions in theatre, music, comedy and mystery.

Kicking off the year, The Academy of The Company Theatre's (A.C.T.) Conservatory presents the musical A Chorus Line, from January 25 through 27. Marvin Hamlisch's creativity has made this beloved show a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning singular sensation. Casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete, and for 17 dancers, this audition is the chance of a lifetime. The iconic score features such classics as "What I Did for Love," "One," "I Hope I Get It" and more! A Chorus Line brilliantly evokes both the glamour and grind of showbiz, and is the musical for everyone who's ever had a dream and dared to put it all on the line. Tickets: Adults $22, Students $18

Performing from February 8 through 17, Green Day's American Idiot was a critical smash on Broadway and in London. The two-time Tony Award winning hit musical tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Based on alternative rock band Green Day's Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum album and featuring the hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "21 Guns", "Wake Me Up When September Ends", "Holiday", and the blockbuster title track,American Idiot boldly takes the American musical where it's never gone before. The Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Evita performs from March 15 through 31. Evita is the smash pop opera that follows Eva's passionate rise to power from the streets of her youth in a rural province outside Buenos Aires, to show business stardom, to becoming the most powerful female political figure in Argentina-the wife of the president Juan Perón. Evita features classic songs from lyricist Tim Rice and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", "Oh What a Circus", "Buenos Aires", and "Another Suitcase in Another Hall". Revered as a saint, cursed as a devil, Eva Perón's dramatic, meteoric rise from poverty to prosperity is a groundbreaking and heart-wrenching depiction of populism, politics and celebrity. From April 19 through 28, A.C.T. presents Disney's Newsies. This rousing true story of the 1899 Newsboy Strike has been recreated from the Disney film for the stage by the amazing team of Harvey Fierstein (Hairspray, Kinky Boots) and Alan Menken (Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast). Jack Kelly is the rebellious and charismatic newsboy who dreams of a better life for himself and his pals, who survive by living on the streets and selling the daily newspaper. When publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right! A.C.T. Conservatory presents Disney's High School Musical from July 11 through 13. What began as a made-for-TV movie quickly grew to an international phenomenon as Disney brought High School Musical to the Broadway stage. Troy, Gabriella, and their friends at East High navigate through first loves, peer pressure, social ostracism and the classic balancing between classes and extracurricular activities. Can you be an all-star jock and a thespian in the school musical, or do you have to "Stick to the Status Quo"? It's a rocky road to teenage romance and success, but in Disney's High School Musical,you'll find "We're All in This Together!". Tickets: adults $22, students $18

In its long-awaited return to the stage, the original musical Paragon Park reprises its 2012 debut from July 26 through August 18. Winner of the Moss Hart Award 2012, Best Production in New England, the acclaimed Paragon Park weaves its local story magic, featuring an original script and score and a cast of fascinating characters - some based on actual figures from Hull's rich and sordid history! The story begins with the 1985 auction of the Paragon Carousel and travels back to 1905, when whaling mogul, George A. Dodge realizes his dream of constructing a fantastical play-land on the shore. George leads the way for a new day of leisure, entertainment and excitement at Nantasket Beach, as the forbidden love of a Boston Brahmin girl and an Italian immigrant gondolier unfolds under his reign. William Shakespeare's classic A Midsummer Night's Dream performs from October 4 through 20. An enchanting comedy of love and errors, A Midsummer Night's Dream marked the birth of The Company Theatre. Directed by Company founders Zoe Bradford and Jordie Saucerman in 1979, magic was achieved in a church basement with a group of eager young actors and sets made from painted refrigerator boxes. In celebration of the theatre's 40th year, Shakespeare's most beloved work returns to the stage in a glorious and elaborate version that will capture the hearts of all who love fantasy and enjoy Shakespeare. A grand and eclectic cast, divine choreography, enchanting sets, gorgeous costumes, and the captivating Mendelssohn score will all come together in this special revival. The lovers, the actors, the fairies, the royals and the mischievous satyr Puck collide in a world in which the human and divine are pitted against one another, resulting in a hilarious and chaotic frenzy. This abridged version is a delight for the entire family. Tickets: $30

A.C.T. Conservatory performs America's Next Top Monster from November 1 through 3. Monsters creep out from under the bed in this original musical about friendship, acceptance, and things that go bump in the night. Shelley Academy is the place where young vampires, zombies, werewolves and witches learn more than reading, writing and arithmetic - they learn how to scare! When the students are announced as finalists on the hit reality series, "America's Next Top Monster", they can't wait to finally take down their rivals - Bram Stoker Prep. When the school principal reveals that, for the first time in history, humans will be allowed to attend the formerly monsters-only school, the students of Shelley Academy worry about their chances for victory getting staked right through the heart. With a pop rock score and snappy dialogue by A.C.T.'s own Director of Education, Melissa Carubia, America's Next Top Monster entertains while delivering a strong message about bullying and inclusion. The Company Theatre proudly produces its joyous South Shore holiday tradition, Dickens' A Christmas Carol from November 29 through December 22. Three spirits visit the miserly Scrooge on Christmas Eve and whisk him away on a journey through memories of his past and glimpses of his future. In one haunted evening, Scrooge sees the error of his ways and repents just in time for a glorious Christmas morning. Charming storybook sets, ghostly special effects, and beautiful holiday music conjure up new holiday merriment for theater-goers young and young at heart. Tickets: $44
