JERSEY BOYS Tour Breaks Box Office Record at Midland, MI Stop

The producers of JERSEY BOYS are thrilled to announce that the national touring company has set a new box office record at the Midland Center for the Arts in Midland, MI. For a four-performance engagement May 3-5, the show grossed $376,192.30, or 104% of the gross potential. This week, JERSEY BOYS will begin a two-week return engagement at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from May 8-20.

The full cast for The 5th Avenue Theatre's spectacular new production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which stars Deaf actorJoshua Castille as Quasimodo, has been announced. Castille will use American Sign Language (ASL) throughout his performance, bringing new life and perspective to Quasimodo, who is deaf in the novel by Victor Hugo.

Japan Society welcomes back Shirotama Hitsujiya, internationally known performance artist, artistic director of the experimental theater company YUBIWA Hotel and founder of AJOKAI (Asian Women Performing Arts Collective), for a residency and public forum focused on the experiences of Vietnamese women who have immigrated to New York.  In this Spring residency, as part of an ongoing project collecting the oral histories of Southeast Asian women, Hitsujiya will delve into New York's vibrant Vietnamese community through a series of immersive studies and conversations, compiling the personal stories of the women she encounters into a script that will be transcribed onto a long rice-paper handscroll.

OSNY Announces 2018 Winners Of Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition

The tenor Charles Sy, a native of Toronto, is the First Place winner of the Oratorio Society of New York's 2018 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. The award was announced by Competition Chairwoman Janet Plucknett following a performance by eight finalists in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 14. The Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing, is now in its 42nd year.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents the second workshop in the series How to Wrote a Musical That Works, Conflict & Obstacles, onSunday, February 25, 2018 from 10am - 6pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 5th floor, Studio 5. Submission fee is $10 for members, $20 for non-members. If accepted, it will be applied to a participation fee of $100 ($80 for TRU members). Those not selected will be invited and encouraged to attend the workshop as observers. The price is $55 ($35 for TRU members).
