Pan Asian Rep to Stage NO NO BOY in Washington D.C. & NYC in June

 Tisa Chang, Artistic Producing Director of PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE, announces for its 39thseason a special limited run of NO-NO BOY by Ken Narasaki, directed by Ron Nakahara, and based on the groundbreaking novel by John Okada. Set in the aftermath of WWII as Japanese Americans return to the West Coast and called "eloquent…elegant and searing" by LA Weekly, NO-NO BOY will run from June 18-19 at the Burke Theatre in Washington, DC (701 Pennsylvania Ave.); June 21-25, 2016 at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row in New York City (410 W. 42nd Street); and June 26 at Flushing Town Hall in Flushing, NY. Official opening in Washington DC will be June 18 at 7:00pm and in New York on June 21 at 7:30pm.

FRAME London Dance Film Festival Sets 2016 Programme

The full programme has today been announced for the inaugural FRAME London Dance Film Festival. The vast programme of films and events is to take place from 9 to 12 June 2016 in Kingston-upon-Thames, London. Presented by the UK's pioneering dance company BalletBoyz in association with dancescreen, the festival is set to offer a unique opportunity to enjoy the best creative talent in dance and film to the general public, as well engaging broadcasters, video artists and choreographers. Over the three days, there are over 122 films screening with 11 World Premieres, 8 International, 4 European and 28 UK Premieres amongst the new work. These will be presented alongside classic films for all ages led by a celebration of Gene Kelly, dance performances and outdoor and family activities at various venues across the town.

In an age when religious beliefs and fundamentalism seem to control world affairs, a very funny and very timely new comedy skewers the topic. Jay and Ruby Get Religion is written by Joe Hoover and directed by Broadway vet Jim Shankman. Hoover has a unique background as playwright, he is a Jesuit brother, the Roman Catholic order to which Pope Francis belongs. Shankman appeared in the Broadway shows Grease and Once in a Lifetime. He is an accomplished playwright in his own right, winning the 2015 Fringe Best Playwriting Award for The Screenwriter Dies of his Own Free Will.
