in collaboration with New Century Theatre Company

Freehold Theatre Lab/Studio will be collaborating with New Century Theatre Company (NCTC) to offer our Ensemble Training Intensive Certificate Program (ETI) in Fall, 2012. The ETI Instructors are both New Century Theatre Company members and Freehold Faculty. The collaboration between Freehold and NCTC will allow students to observe professional rehearsals and readings, as well as audition for internship roles when available in productions by NCTC. Freehold in partnership with New Century Theatre Company (NCTC) offers our Ensemble Training Intensive (ETI) through Antioch University Seattle's Center for Continuing Education.

The Ensemble Training Intensive is designed for emerging artists who are ready to make a vocational commitment to the theatre. The Ensemble Training Intensive (ETI) is a ten-month conservatory course for actors and focuses on developing the skills necessary to meet the technical demands of classical text and extraordinary contemporary material.

The Ensemble Training Intensive empowers emerging professionals with a dependable inner and outer process so that they may make a meaningful contribution to the community at large. We work with actors to integrate the core truthful connection to the given circumstances and the playing of action, with extraordinary physical and vocal expression. We emphasize small class size (16 students) and individual attention. The curriculum comprises group and tutorial sessions.

The course work is focused on:

• Opening up the artist’s access to natural inspiration and availability to the life of the moment.

• Expanding their imaginative and transformational scopes.

• Evolving their instruments physically and vocally.

• Preparing the artist for many paths - from working as a professional or further study, to preparing as a teacher. It is a solid launching pad for the next step.

The program includes two recitals and one production that will tour to non-traditional theatre venues, which ensures substantial performing opportunities for each student. Actors need to be ready to take on the rigor and discipline of this ten-month technical curriculum, which includes 30 hours a week in class and/or rehearsal, as well as individual rehearsal and preparation time.

Instructors work as a team to help the students integrate the various disciplines of dramatic action, movement, stage combat, voice and speech, character, and verse structure into a cohesive process. The instructors for this program include: Hans Altwies, Joel Benjamin, Paul Budraitis, John Jacobsen, Marya Sea Kaminski, Darragh Kennan, Robin Lynn Smith, Amy Thone, and Kate Wisniewski.

For more information on the ETI program and application process, contact Freehold via the contact page on Freehold’s website.

ETI participants must make a commitment to the entire 10 month program which begins in early September and concludes in early July. There are two diversity scholarships available. Tuition for 10 month program: $8950.
